Another fun time all together and Granny and Granddaddy's this year. Ruby was the most excited when we told her this year we would spend the night for two nights! Magan and I had the camper to ourselves, which granddad made sure kept us very warm. I think Sam, Davis, and Ben just found whatever couch they could find. And Belle and Ruby spent the night at Katies house.
Thanksgiving day was filled with games and money thrown around like confetti. Granny had put together a lot of games to include everyone, but mainly for the kids. There was some hide and seek things, with big dollar money prizes. I think Ruby won the largest prize of $50. Don't tell Granny, but I think she had some help from Aunt Katie. There was a fun game rolling dice to win prizes hidden under solo cups, then a game to blow off marshmallows from the top of solo cups, and then a trivia question prize game, with all trying to find the golden bow in a box. Probably old drinking games from Granny's past. I think I even saw some crying at the loss of these games, sorry Ivey...and Sam. But in the end, Davis grabbed the golden bow and won the treasured...Fruitcake? Well, Granny got a good laugh, and after tasting, Davis was happy to share his prize with anyone that wanted any.
Sam and Noel joined us just in time to get the porch pictures. Joe and Tanya were able to join up with us, bringing MawMaw with them. It was very neat to have them be a part, since they have been gone for so long out of state. I know Davis was thankful for his new Alabama blanket, but somehow we forgot to get a picture of them both together with it. Belle got some jewelry from Granny that will be treasured as a family heirloom. And all were thankful for some fun time and food together.
That evening began the first of two long games of "Papers", which seems to be a good fit for any big group. Some of the funny ones were "This is where Granddaddy is from? To which Davis quickly spit out 'Rozars'"...Belle describing Chick-Fil A as "Heavenly Chicken" (We will not talk about the cheating in using Chick as part of the clue)...Sam acting out Santa Claus...Davis acting out a "Big Fish"...Scott acting out Elsa and the Eifel Tower...Granny acting out walmart...and Wyatt acting out Tom Selleck. I messed up the first game a bit by adding Robert Koch, but Katie got us back in the second game with Leslie Hembree. And I will admit using Kayla McCracken (This seems fake, as I remember prank calls in the 80s asking for Phillup McCracken...tell me that is not her brother's name) as a clue I thought was another crazy one, but she was actually at the table, so it helped me learn her name. All were impressed with Granddads round of ONE WORD, where he picked up a lot of points. It clearly was better than the now infamous "ONE" to describe the moon.
The next day was the girls shopping day, so they did that, and were gone almost all day long shopping. I did not stalk magan with the credit card transactions, but happy for all the smiles I see from that day. I did hear one story of Belle and Noel stalking some old ladies in Belk for their shopping cart, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
The boys all went on the traditional Disc Golf outing at Heritage Park. Colby was the winner here, narrowly beating out the team of Ben and John. Davis had the craziest shot on a long par 5 where he rolled the disc about 100 yards. And Sam won the "Falling in the Creek" award when using a branch to get down to his frisbee broke and let him have wet shoes and socks for the rest of the day. Colby's 150 rounds this year was about 150X more than the rest of us so I would hope he won. :) Afterwards we hit the pizza buffet, where we did not take an exact count, but I am pretty sure Davis won the pizza slice award throwing down somewhere around 25, but I believe I had the most Cinnamon Rolls at 6.
The second night, everyone starting going their separate ways, but there was fun game of 5 crowns left (I think Davis won), and some quiet peaceful time around the new firepit. More beds available for all on the second night, but Magan and I enjoyed the glamping life one more night. Merry Thanksgiving to All!
