AHG PIPA Campout

Anabelle needed a 3-night campout to meet her next rank aware with the American Heritage Girls.   And these campouts are difficult, without finding a weekend with a holiday.   Ms. Shaley kept this one close at Oak Mountain State Park, and planned it to include the Monday of Thanksgiving week to give them the extra day.

I drove with Belle and Ruby on Friday Night, with Magan coming right behind us.   Since we were bringing the large 10 man tent for all the Patriot squad to share, I was there to help set up that tent, and Magan's 4 man tent that we found would fit her special cot and pad.   I am always proud of our girls, because when set-up time comes, this time in a drizzle of rain the whole time, they know where to jump in and help Dad get things set up quickly and efficiently.   Both girls jumped in to help, while a few others watched.   But it was fine, I knew they would do it all right.

Ruby and I left so we could go to the Alabama game the next day.   But I did get a few pictures from Magan from Saturday.   On Saturday, all the girls went to the archery targets to practice and work on activity pins.   I don't know how they did, but I see that Magan tried it out as well.   The major stories from the weekend included Ms. Robbie sitting in Belle's hammock chair, then flipping completely over because she sat in it incorrectly.   There was also a wolf sighting from one of the PiPa girls.

Magan and Belle returned home early Sunday morning for a shower and to attend church.   And after church, me and Belle returned to camp for the last night.   Unfortunately, Belle missed the work on the disc golf and ultimate frisbee they did earlier in the afternoon, but we got there just in time for some geocaching.   Ms. Robbie is the Queen of all geocaching and showed us one that was out in the open, and when we opened the door, we found it COVERED in lady bugs.   Yuck, a little gross.   Then on the hike, we got to the first one that was about 50 yards off of the trail.   All the girls went marching up this very difficult climb with no pathway.   I would say about 5 yards in, Belle and I looked at each other, and said it was not worth it.   So we waited at the trail for all to return.   We found three more geocaches on the trail before heading back to camp at sunset.

Around the campsite, it was fun kidding around with the girls.  We had a great supper of Tomato Soup and Grilled Cheese.   Kessa made my grilled cheese perfectly.   And then there was some cobbler for dessert, which is where all got very strange for me.   I knew that the sugar would not be good for my stomach, but did get one bite from Belle.   I then sat looking at the fire, and grabbed my phone in my pocket to see what time it was...and found cobbler in my pocket on my phone.   I looked to my right at Kessa and my left at Belle and immediately thought one of them had done it.   Belle just cackled with laughter making me think it was her, but she sounded pretty honest that it was not her.   So somehow in that one bit, it got on my chair a bit, and perhaps on my finger unknown to be placed on my phone in my pocket...I have no idea what happened, but maybe me and Belle will keep laughing when we remember this crazy moment.

I slept fairly comfy in the back of the van that night, as I did not bring my tent.   I also did not bring my pillow, so a blanket was my pillow.   But can't say it was that bad.   Belle and I packed up quickly, then waited around for everyone else to be ready to be packed up.   I played a game with the girls to see who could tell how tall my hair was...and none were even close.   Leaving the campground, Belle wanted to try out Ruby Sunshine.   I had some crazy Eggs Benedict, and she had a breakfast biscuit.   But the kicker was the french toast bites.   Her paper plate award was "Most likely to bring coloring sheets to a campout".
