It was a perfect day with my Ruby at work. First of all, Ruby was most excited to go visit with Ellie, Bella, and Laney at John's house, and I told her that Mom could bring her later in the day to join up with John, but she was packed with activities for the day and made me happy that she wanted to come work with me. Then she asked me what time we had to wake up, and I think she second guessed her decision when I said 5:30AM.
But she was up and ready with me and Sam and Davis. We began our day getting into normal 280 traffic on the way to work, and she impressed me after listening to the George Straight song "Check Yes or No", when she said "Well, that was a good little story". Haha, I did not even know she was listening, but she knew a good "story" when she heard one. We also picked up some Chick-Fil-A on the drive in brightening her day even more.
We did a quick tour when we arrived, but then I had a meeting, so I showed her to a large break room with a great view of the nearby Summit and surrounding area. She set up her with her computer, and my phone for the hotspot. She got out her crocheting material, and started working on Ms. Deidra a little purse. Then when I started telling her about the TV, and water, and giving her all the details in case she needed me, she quickly just shooed me away. "I am good, Dad, Goodbye". So I left here there working probably harder than many other folks in that building.
Later we went downstairs to the ground floor and played a game of foosball, then after I won because she kept hitting it into her own goal, we visited the small store down there. And she found her next item to brighten her day...Milos Sweet Tea! It was almost lunch time at this point, so we let Uncle John know we were going to the cafeteria and he joined us. She agreed that he is a little crazy for not eating lunch, but he did sit and chat with us. I have gotten this pic many times at lunch over the years with her friends, but finally we got one at my lunch with my friend.
After lunch, she had finished her purse and left it for Ms. Deidra in her office, then she took up her next job cleaning up my office. I had never removed anything from a large box when I moved over, but she got to work and decorated and cleaned everything up. It really does look so much better now. But after the clean up, I could tell time was starting to slow down for her, because she was so ready for 3PM and time to leave with John...and that clock just was not going fast enough for her.
She played solitaire, played foam basketball, colored on my walls and my deskboard, and also just laid back and sighed, checking the clock about every 10 minutes. And then John was there, and she was bouncing ready to go. I walked them out to the car and got her bag for her. Then a big hug before her first big spend the night before summer camp. I don't know if she will want to come to work with me again anytime soon, but I think she had fun...and I know my day was better than any other with her there. Love you Ruby, you made this day so special and a treasure!
