Daddy Daughter Dance

Anabelle...if I could just package a few days up to re-live, I think this one would be near the top.  We went to see The Greatest Showman movie that morning, and the rest of the day was just dancing and floating around in a world of smiles.  I enjoyed being your date, and getting to learn how to swing dance with you...even tho you quickly kicked me out of the way because "Girls just want to have fun".  It was just a see of twirling little girls with a room of smiling proud papas.  Can't wait for next year, and maybe having two dates soon.

One of Mom's favorite pictures is the one where you are looking down at your pointed toe as you were twirling.  They even played "A Million Dreams" from the Greatest Showman during the dance.  Glad mom was there as the photographer to capture these memories.

Davis' Birthday

Davis seems to always work himself into all sorts of Birthday celebrations, even when it is not his turn to get  a party.  But we had some coupons that the kids received at the marathon expo, and they expired soon, so it became Davis' birthday party at TOPGOLF.  We had a great time, and Davis even started hitting some targets late in the night.  Ruby loved going up their and hitting her ball just barely off the deck...made me wonder what the people below though of these balls just dropping right by them.

The funniest picture below is Magan smiling back at me taking a picture while she is in full backswing....haha...there was no pose, this was her actually in full swing mode, and I captured the photo just prior to her swinging and missing the ball completely.  Laughing I showed her the picture and the reason for missing the ball...she was clearly not watching the ball as she smiled back at the camera.  We also received some injectable donut balls for Davis' birthday, and while these were good, they were an incredibly horrible mess for the girls that could not figure out how to inject the donuts without getting it all over their hands and dresses.

Happy 11th birthday Big D!

Davis crosses over into Boy Scouts

Davis worked really hard and earned his Arrow of Light award.  He actually earned it shortly after Christmas, but the crossover in boy scout ceremony is in February.  Granny and Granddaddy came to help us celebrate this big achievement.  It was a Mardi Gras themed crossover, and I ended up having to MC much of the pre-meeting activities, so somehow with all that we missed a family shot.  Oh well.  Sam was able to put the new boy scout neckerchief on Davis when he crossed over the bridge.  I have enjoyed both of these boys in cub scouts, and we have done so much together, I am looking forward to our boy scout adventures.  Hoping Sam and Davis don't get tired of my trying to tag along with these new boy scout campouts.  And Davis...your new plaque looks super cool with Sams.

Mercedes Marathon Weekend

It was a busy marathon weekend, and this year fell on the same weekend as one of Magan's consignment sales.  My knee was still acting up a bit, so I was not going to run.  But it was interesting getting all the kids up @ 6AM to be at the BJCC for Sam to run the 5K.  This was the second time Sam had run, but first on his own.

We watched him get in the big line with everyone, including a big dinosaur pictured below.  Sam had a good 11 minute pace, but unfortunately the giant dinosaur was even faster and passed him early on.  I told him he had to beat the dinosaur, but he said "That was a fast dinosaur".  Oh well, we couldn't catch up to Wonderwoman the previous year either.  Also, the weather was overcast, and just came a downpour as soon as Sam started his race.  I think he thought it was fun running in the rain, but the 99 cent poncho did not do well to keep him very dry.

After Sam's race, we headed over to the BJCC to enjoy the expo and some breakfast.  Davis and Belle were not running until about 11am, so we had a couple of hours to waste.  The expo was fun, and we had some spicy sausage breakfast.  Ruby found a seat that was HERS because it was number 4.  When we finally got to the kids races, it was not very easy handling all these guys by myself, but Sam would watch Ruby, while I relayed Davis and Belle into line then picked them up.  Anabelle found a couple of her friends to run with.  And this year, Davis had the best time at just over 9 minutes for his mile.  I was proud of that guy, because he ran hard the whole time.

So no running for Dad this year, but I loved getting to see all these little guys running.  Even Ruby had to put on some gloves and show us how hard she could run later in the day.
