Around the House

OK, last blog for awhile...so here are a few pics and stories of the last few weeks...

So report cards came out this last Friday at the end of school, and Davis got a P (I don't even really know what this stands for), which is not as good as an S (Satisfactory) for playing with Peers.  Both Magan and I were both a little shocked as Davis is Mr. Peer most times.  We asked him about this, and with no hesitation he also shockingly replied regarding his teacher "I don't know, I bet she messed up and was thinking of someone else".  This was a good enough answer for me.  :)

And I can not describe my little Belle and her cuteness, but wanted to share a story so that maybe me or Magan can remember one day.  At Taco Bell the other night, Magan made fun of me as I repeatedly told the boys that we would not be having any ice cream.  Sam even had a free coupon for ice cream, but I was not going to get it.  Then Belle started talking excitedly about how much she wanted a slushy from Taco Bell, then she said she would even like a "smoothie", and as she said "smoothie" she did a little dance that cracked me and Magan up.  Like I said, I can't describe this dance, but it was about the cutest and funniest thing combined with her request for a "smoothie".  So we all got ice cream.  I know...

And Sam, dear me, I hope one day you will realize how hard it is to listen to a 15 minute story about the Minecraft location you have created.  :)   I love you boy, but man that videogame does not lend well to a big story.  I have enjoyed watching you shoot the pixely cows with your new bow and arrow.

Davis got famous with his Shelby County School video.  Our little Dave did an awesome job on the commercial with a big line "Shelby County Schools are helping me to become a Twenty first century learner", and he was invited to the luncheon to celebrate the success of the commercial.  Magan said he was about the only young one there, and did really good speaking with all of the other adults.  He got his picture with his mom, his principal, and his teacher.  (Side Note:  Magan, you look really good in that picture at the luncheon)

Back from Savannah, and eating at the Pirate House...Guess what we all were that night?

Love my girls...

Ms. Lisa came over to give me and mom a date night.  The kids didn't care a bit, as Ms. Lisa brought her dog Grace.  Magan and I enjoyed another wonderful meal at Stone's Throw.

Belle will sit in front of my iPad and play Frozen songs for hours singing with each one.  And one day I will remember that it is NOT princess Elsa...It is Queen Elsa...and she is NOT princess Anna, she is usually Queen Elsa.

Ummm....Yeah, the tire ride did not go over as well as I thought it might.

Scout Campout at Oakmulgee

Me and the boys had another fun camping trip this weekend.  I missed our Fall campout, and the boys were looking forward to being in the tent.  Perfect weather this weekend.  It got a little cold the first night, but no rain, lots of sun.  Davis immediately hooked up with a buddy from his 1st grade class (Jaxon) and did not seem to go very far without his Jack Sparrow sword.  Our campsite was right on Lake Payne in the Oakmulgee area of the Talledega National Forest.  And this being the first time camping on a lake, we had the boys fishing gear, and a dad eager to learn.

Sam took up the casting like a pro and was soon casting well farther than I thought he would be able to.   I did catch one funny picture shortly after Davis tried casting over his head without getting out of his seat.  He could not find where his hook went till he looked up in the tree above him.  I was cracking up at this.  My job basically all weekend (because the boys would NOT stop fishing) was to untangle lines and put new hooks on the line when they got stuck.

We were able to retire a very large flag that used to fly at Lee Branch shopping center.  Both Sam and Davis helped to both cut the stripes in preparation for retirement, and helped burn the remaining pieces.  It was a very good ceremony, and we had three veterans participate in the ceremony that saluted the flag as it was retired.  After that, it was time for smores and campfire skits and jokes.

Sam and Davis, with all of the other boys, claim to have seen an alligator in the water.  It was a one eyed alligator with a pink eye.  Huge tail that came up out of the water.  That was the tale they were telling, was it true?  Can't say for sure, but there were plenty of signs around the park stating that there WERE alligators in the lake.

Love this time with my boys.  And I love that they enjoy it so much.  They are always sad to leave the campsite, even as we drive away stinking like stank, they want to stay.  And I just want a shower.

Mother's Day

Thirteen years of marriage, and she truly is "The Sweetest Mom".  We celebrated with a night out at our favorite restaurant "Stones Throw", and the kids all had some nice drawings for our mom.  I'm glad she is the one taking care of us.

We’ve got the sweetest Mom
By Scott and Sam Junkin

She has a washing machine, she keeps our clothes all clean
She’s the bestest momma that you ever seen
She has the prettiest smile, can’t even see her eyes
Knocking us out with her cheesecake pies

She can bake a cake, she can decorate
She wears a watch, but she’s always late
And the kids are playing, the house starts shaking
Our Dad is spanking, and we were thinking that

We’ve got the sweetest Mom
Yeah, We’ve got the sweetest Mom

Working double time with her double jobs
She’s one of a kind, she throws diaper bombs
She knows which pants are blue, she can find your shoe
Don’t need a lost and found, cause baby we got you

From Ruby Lou and Belley Boo
From Sam and Davis, yeah We Love you
And the kids are playing, the house starts shaking
Our Dad is spanking, and we were thinking that

Sam turns 9

Can't believe our big guy is 9 years old.  His mom did a great job decorating the room, as I believe I just fell asleep in the living room.  He was very excited, and we got him a cool bike ramp (that hopefully he will continue to share with his brother), some erector sets to build, and the big shocked face was a Pittsburgh Pirates team set of baseball cards.  Magan said he was also very happy to pick out his own cake, and picked one with strawberries all over it.

I love to see this guy grow and learn.  He loves to build, and has a good mind for how things work.  I am also happy to watch him come out of his shell a bit more and more each day...even participated in three skits around the scout campfire the other night.  Glad he's my hard working friend and son.
