Nashville Picture Weekend

Magan loves Twig and Olive photography, and she has followed them for years.  She has taken their online classes and speaks about them on a first name basis.  Finally she got us family pictures scheduled with them...they are from Wisconsin, but travel south for picture sessions about once a year.  Magan has been dying to meet her "celebrities" almost as much as getting these family pictures...but we had to cancel the first time do to my work, then a second time due to my work, and this time she would have killed me had I scheduled anything on this weekend.  But instead, I planned some fun time for this picture weekend in Nashville.

We drove up to Nashville early in the morning as we were staying at the Opryland resort.  I had purchased our Soundwaves waterpark tickets that is connected to Opryland, and we planned to make a day of it.  We were able to get to the hotel by about 10:30 and they let us go ahead and check into our room.  We had a nice room overlooking the Conservatory atrium...not my favorite, but the only room available at 10:30AM.  We jumped in our bathing suits and made it to the waterpark quickly.  Davis and Sam tried the surfboard wave attraction...Sam and I were the only ones to try the 6 story drop slide...and we rode the family water slide a couple of times.  We found out that Ruby would ride about anything that she was tall enough to ride, and even went over backwards into the water twice with me...I was scared the whole time for her, but when I cam out of the water she was just laughing.

The wave pool was fun, but I felt bad for the lifeguards cause there was a large group of black kids in lifevests that did not look safe at all when those waves starting coming...it was like a really bad stereotype joke that was real...Lifeguard had to jump in a couple of times.  Anyway, the wavepool was great.  We had some superexpensive sandwiches for lunch.  Davis just shared with me a story of him jumping onto a lily pad on one of the water attractions and it came off the chain and flipped him over.  I know what Anabelle's favorite thing was...the lazy river...but this lazy river was pretty fast, and she rode it OVER AND OVER again.  Haha...and another memory is Sam could not wear his glasses, so I kept seeing him wandering around trying to find the blurs that were his family.

Magan left the waterpark early so she could head to the spa for a minute before supper...so I had kid duty and showers take FOREVER when you only have one bathroom, but we finally made it and went over to the mall for our normal supper at Maccaroni Grill.  After supper, we got to tour a little of the hotel at night.

The next day was busy with church that Sunday morning, then a normal lunch at Bob Evans (we really don't change things up very much).  Back to the hotel, where Magan had a hair appt at the salon, so my job was to watch the girls and don't let them mess up their hair or dresses.  So we went thru the conservatory atrium looking for fairies and finally finding their homes and some twinkles that could have been them, but they just move so quickly.  Fairies were believable and magical, but the troll under the bridge...Ruby would have none of that.  Later we rode the boat inside the Delta atrium, and shared a super large SMOREs marshmellow treat.

And it was finally time for our Twig and Olive session at a local state park.  I am sure those pictures will be in Christmas Cards, and maybe in a blog or two...but the main thing for this blog is that we got our pictures taken by DOUG, and he is the best, and Magan was SOOOO hoping that DOUG would take our pictures, and she got to get some pictures with her celebrities after the shoot.  So, these guys travel all over the country and world, and let me just say...Doug was pretty impressive at family interaction...it takes skills to connect with kids of all ages that quickly, and he has some mad skills...Still haven't seen the final pics, but Magan has already signed us up for sessions with Doug at the beach next.  Also thanks to Doug, Davis is expecting a fishing trip in Alaska sometime soon.  And I don't know if I mentioned it...but we left Nashville at around 7...and we had school/work the next day...Fun Weekend though.
