Halloween 2010

How great was the weather this year for Halloween? It was great! We had an exciting day that began with a Trunk or Treat with our friends from church. We had a great pot luck meal then began trunk or treating.

Our costumes…Magan was Mary and Belle was her lamb. I was the clock, and Davis was the mouse running up the clock. And Sam was a little brown bear (At the last minute he wanted to be a spy bear like Oso, but we did not have a vest). MaMaw made or helped with pretty much all of the costumes.

Later that evening we went to one of our church friend’s house to trick or treat the neighborhood. We only lost Davis once (when we finally found him, he was at a door trick or treating still), and only lost Sam once (only briefly then found him with the group from church). Anabelle was strapped in which made her more difficult to lose.

And the boys were super excited to show all of the candy they received.

I just added the pictures below because Belle and Davis were dressing up...just not in their halloween costumes. Belle below is wearing her pippi longstocking pigtails while sporting her Davis smile. And Dave is wearing the suit I wore when I was a little'un.

Jelly Monster and Bad Dad

The boys are already thinking of things they want for Christmas. Mostly b/c we keep getting all of the magazines in the mail that are full of toys.
Out of all of the toys, there is one thing that Davis has picked out and keeps asking for, the Jelly Monster. Just in case you don't know what a Jelly Monster is here is a picture for you:

Haha, the Jelly monster and his horse

Two days ago I made tacos that put Scott in the ER. Well, we are not sure that it was the tacos, but I really think it was.
I added Flax Seed to them b/c it is a great source of fiber and good to clean out your system. Everyone else did great with it, but Dad didn't process those seeds so well.
I felt TERRIBLE! I still believe it is a good thing for our systems, but I may have added about 1/2 cup too much to our tacos for Scott's stomach. : )
Anyway, it all happened on a Wed. The kids and I got ready and went on to church while Dad took a bath. (I knew he was feeling really bad when he agreed to take a bath, he thinks he is soaking in his own filth when he takes a bath) : )
After Bible class Sam came out grinning from ear to ear. I asked what is so funny and he opened the card he had made for his sick dad and read "Bad Dad" and busted out laughing. I figure he probably wrote the d backwards at first and then realized it made the word bad and just thought it was hilarious.
BTW, if you didn't remember our little Belle is ALMOST ONE!!!! Still can't believe it!!!

Back to the Zoo

Colby and Melissa came down to visit while I was out of work for a holiday. Katie also joined us and we took everyone to the zoo. I can’t remember everything that happened, but do remember a few things…the Lorikeets pooped all over my arm…the Boo at the Zoo decorations were up and fun to see…and we got to watch the Turtles do it. Here are a few pictures of everyone…and a little video of the turtles.

Campout at the Vinsant’s

This was me and the boys first time to camp out, and we had a blast. We camped out in a field at the Vinsant’s (family from church) farm. We had hotdogs and hamburgers and then had a singing. After the singing, Mom and Anabelle went back home to the snuggly beds.

We played with some glow sticks for awhile, and then around 11:00PM, we decided to get in our tent and go to sleep. But our tent was near the high pitched girl tent where there giggles and laughter were like the constant noise of crickets or frogs…only louder. But perhaps around midnight, I think we did fall asleep.

Now it did not get very cold…probably in the 50s, but we had forgotten to bring blankets. We had warm clothes and our sleeping bags, but the coldness and the hard dirt made it difficult to sleep. Then Davis woke up around 3 needing to pee, so I walked him out to a good spot to go. Then Sam woke up around 4:30 to go…and I just unzipped the tent door and he peed out the door.

But at 5 oclock the boys were ready to get up, and I sent them to sit around the fire with Mr. Yow who apparently had tended the fire all night. Sam and Davis immediately began to “help” keep the fire going. And Sam really did keep the fire going until we had to leave and get back to the house around 10AM. Before leaving we did get to go pet the horses and chickens. We had a fun time.

Dads and Football

Tonight was a busy night, like most around our house lately. Since we have started school it seems like we rarely find ourselves sitting on the couch doing nothing. First Scott got home a little late after running an errand and we had already eaten by the time he got home.
So he got his supper to eat on the couch in front of the AL ballgame. Every time I walk through, I see a little Belle standing on his knee begging for bites like a little bird. Then as soon as the food is gone I walk through to see her in his lap laughing.
I was working in the kitchen unloading and reloading the dish washer. Scott was in the living room still trying to watch the AL football game and folding clothes.

I was listening from the kitchen as the kids interrupted him over and over and then I hear him getting their teeth brushed and hurrying them to bed.
I am laughing to myself thinking that he must be trying to get back to the game so that he can watch it without any more interruptions from little people. (I had already put Belle to bed for the night)
Then I hear him taking time to tell them the story of Daniel in the Lions Den. Immediately following the story Davis says "Hey Dad, after prayers can you tell us anoder (another) story?"
I expect him to say no not tonight, b/c I know that the game is still playing in the living room. Instead I hear, we'll see. Then as the prayers take longer and longer b/c Sam doesn't want to sit up and Davis wants to tell him everything her wants to pray about before actually praying, I think, there is no way he'll be telling that second story now.
A few minutes later I hear the voice of Mr. Meoggi (I have no idea how to spell that) and the story of Karate Kid coming from their bedroom. After a few more giggles and a few good nights, he finally makes it back to see the end of the ballgame.
I know that this is a rare event among the male population, that is why I felt the need to write it down. My husband is patient, kind, and selfless in so many ways.
I LOVE HIM, he is the very best Dad to our sweet kids. I love my Famiwy, (as Davis would say) !!!!! Thank you Lord, for all 4 blessings!
