Veteran's Day Parade at McWane

Having never been to the Veteran's day parade, I thought it might be fun to squeeze it into a trip to the McWane center, since the parade route goes directly in front of the science center.  And we timed it pretty well, getting to McWane in time to eat lunch and then enjoy the new exhibit "Itty Bitty Magic City".  Ha, Sam is now too old for this, crazy, so he went exploring while we were in here.

After the McWane Center, we went outside to see the parade.  I had no idea of the length of this parade, having only experienced the Chelsea parade, but then when I saw a string of boy scouts 20 minutes long, I started thinking this could be a long parade.  It was really a good parade, and we watched as many of our servicemen passed by, and we cheered the veterans of WWII, Korea, Vietnam, and the Gulf War...but we started seeing guys on roller skates with red, white and blue MC hammer pants, we decided that was enough.

Back in the McWane center we found a new exhibit highlighting many of the sights to see across all 50 states.  It was great, and neat to see the few that we have visited.  And no lie, when we left the mcwane center, that parade was about 3.5 hours in, and showed no signs of slowing up.  It may still be going, and it is now Christmas time as I write this.  Dear me Birmingham...You clearly are the leader on this Veterans day parade...just perhaps we can cut the Hammer pant roller derby guys.
