Anabelle became the first in our family to have a gun pulled on her, and it occurred many times at each performance of the Outsiders. The spring theater show was a little darker than the Fall where they did Beauty and the Beast. Belle played the doctor watching over Johnny in Act 2, and having to deal with those greasers like Dallas, Derry, Soda Pop, and Ponyboy trying to get into his room to talk with their injured friend. She also started the play off as one of two headlights approaching the audience, then jumping and running off stage to begin a montage at the beginning of Act 1.
Of course, she did amazing, and I am always excited to see her on stage. She is really the only freshmen with that many lines in the play and continues to get cast well in these plays that can be dominated by the upper classmen. But she holds her own, and everytime I picked her up from practice, she was almost bubbly with excitement.
I think Magan went to every show available to parents (4 or 5), while I only hit the Friday and Sunday shows. And having not watched outsiders in a long long time, the story was new and fresh to me, and Cash Hamilton did an amazing job as Ponyboy. I am amazed that he learned that much dialogue. The guy that played Dallas and pulled the gun in the hospital was also really good, Frederick used to be in webelos with Davis and actually crossed over into Boy Scouts with him for a little bit. The whole cast did great, and I will admit, I was pulled in on both nights.
Anabelle had a crowd every night from church, but I guess they also were there for Cash...and also for the glorious janitor David Holley that got a laugh as the mop boy during the middle of the acts. I know Belle also loved family that was able to be there for the play also. And I really have to do a better job with this flower business, but she did get some from both me and Sam after one of the performances. In my crystal ball I see a lot more theater performances for my amazing girly with curlies Anabelle! Love you my sweet girl, you are a natural up there, and I love it every time I get to see you.
