Don't July To Me

What is going on during the month of July?  The soupy soup restaurant was still in business with Anabelle and Ruby serving...Davis fell down the driveway chasing after a wagon and got a nice tear on his arm, which lasted thru Florida college camp...He also ran into a trash can on his motorcycle, no pics of that one, but sure do wish we had a video...Magan and I went to see the movie "Yesterday" together while we had NO KIDS, what?  It was crazy for a couple of days, NO KIDS...Ruby learned to swim at a "swim, float, swim" trainer, WOW, I can't believe how fast she taught her how to swim, now that girl is like a fish just one month later...Katie took the kids to the zoo, and I am seeing now, apparently, did not make it into any of the pictures, sorry Katie...I am thinking I may have missed somehow the reason why Sam was put into a trashcan while his uncles thru Frisbees at him...Anabelle had an end of the summer party with her school teacher from the previous year...and Davis, after taking awhile to make it to tenderfoot rank, quickly made it now to second class rank.

Davis at Beach

I think Davis has all of the other pictures of this trip he took with Cole to the beach, but I never saw them so he gets this whole blog, but only the two pics below.  The stories he told us was of seeing a shark and dolphin from their 17th floor condo...being stung by a jellyfish...wanting to go swim with the shark...scuba diving with fish, one that was swimming right next to him, and another he reached out and punched...good seafood...and Cole's uncle loved talking about cars with him.

AHG Summer

AHG continues thru the summer with a Chrismas in July service project, and Magan and Belle helped at the Scout Sunday event at Double Oak Mountain church.  Ruby is so excited to be a pathfinder this year, and she has the best little friend named Helen starting with her.  Anabelle is of course happy to be anywhere with Linley, and Sam and Davis usually are pretty good helpers when needed.

Mentor/Mentee Lunch

This was our first year to begin a mentor program at church ("The Bridge"), and it went pretty well.  We had about 10 Jr/Sr High students paired up with mentors with different assignments throughout the year to connect them to others.  Magan worked with Haleigh, and Sam worked with Darrell Baker.  I know both of them really enjoyed the program, and I believe everyone else did as well.

For the end of the mentor year lunch, we had lots of pizza, and a word game to see which group could figure out the most word puzzles.  That prize went to Terry and Josh Baker.  After dinner I played a game similar to the Newly Wed Game where they were each asked questions about each other, and total score was based on how well they knew each other...Questions such as...If your mentee was wandering in the wilderness, and had a manna alergy, what food would they request that they would have to eat every day? ...or Where in church do you usually sit? ...or If you and your mentee were walking thru the woods and came across a bear, would you A. run away (you are faster than them) B. Charge the bear (You are brave) or C. Stand Still and hope the bear doesn't see you

In the end it was Wesley and Landry taking the prize...which was a Hulk Pez with some noise makers, with which they were made to sing (or attempt to sing) "We are the Champions" while holding high their pez trophy.  I don't know about everyone else, but it made me laugh.
