Ruby turns 11...A Postage Stamp Party or Parties

Our sweet little Ruby, that once stayed in a little box for a week when she was born, has turned 11, and now rolls her eyes when her Dad refers this this as coming in the Amazon box.   But she is the sweetest girl and helpful to anyone and everyone that needs help.   She helps her substitute bus driver find all the stops "because those kids have no idea where they live", and is asked to sit next to the kids in class that are a little troublesome because she seems to be the one that can help them when needed, and is the only one of all 4 that actually gets excited collecting service hours.

So what did our little Ruby ask for as the theme of this birthday...Postage Stamps.   I joke with Magan all the time that we have raised little senior citizens that like to talk to people and often find more in common with those in their 60s than other little ones.   But Magan is a master party planner, and took the challenge of a party celebrating postage stamps.

She somehow got two parties with different friend groups, and of course a little party with just family.   I have a few pictures of the one with the family, where we all ended up busting a gut laughing about the gifts this 11 year old was so excited to receive.   A cursive writing manual, a coin counter that help you wrap your coins for the bank, a crocheting kit, a puzzle, and a stamp collecting encyclopedia.   She thought it was funny too, but the gifts were all perfect for her.

The first party was a spend the night party with friends from school, where they played some games with dice and games with candy corn.  Magan had them all write letters to a future self in a time capsule.   And a special time where Ruby could show them her stamp collection and they all pick out some stamps to start their own collections.   The cake actually had edible stamps on it.   I did a little bit of magic, but then they pulled me into a tiktok thing that I didn't understand, but they all laughed at me, so I think it worked.   Ruby got the game "The Floor is Lava", which from my vantage point in the other room, was very exciting and prompted lots of screaming.

The second party had some of the similar games, this time including friends from church and one from the neighborhood.   It had a similar stamp theme, and her friend Claire actually made Ruby a stamp cake.   This party included a pinata, and some very dangerous club swinging, where luckily no one was injured.   They also visited McDonalds after lunch to get the popular plastic Crocs in the Happy Meal toys.

Ruby had another couple of fun adventures tied to her birthday, with her mom surprising her with one of the McDonald's Crocs that she had been trying to get.   Magan also took her to various other McDonalds to ensure she got the whole collection.   That was always my goal as a kid, and it was great to watch both Magan and Ruby this month making sure all were found!

An lastly for a birthday without her big brother Sam, she lit up when a card from him was in the mail on her birthday.   I wish I would have captured the video when she saw who it was from and her big smile that did not stop while reading his letter.

Ruby, I can't believe you are 11.   I love our days together, and there is a tie for favorite parts of my day...tucking you in at night, or waiting on the front stairs for the bus with you.   And even tho I complain sometimes, I kinda like our laid back study sessions on the bed going over vocabulary and spelling.   Do you remember us laughing hard at you spelling Praytriotic, then us laughing at our of our other new words like Prayctical?   Or spelling perspective as PERSON?  Your cackling laughter is infectious, and you make my every day brighter.   Love you Ruby Gooby, Happy Birthday!
