From Magan's facebook post: This is Belle’s first year in show choir and she just loves it. Today they won FIRST place at their competition !!!! That’s the first time in 2 years for OOTB show choir. So proud of our Hornets!!!!
So they won first place in Montgomery, and 2nd Place at Albertville, and 2nd Place at Oak Mountain. And I am learning that there is a whole new level of drama that I am apparently expected to take part in with both cheering and in recognition of the scoring requirements. As Magan was pulled into after the Albertville competition where Chelsea apparently got 1st place in 3 of the 4 sheets, but last place on the last sheet which dropped them to 2nd place overall. Magan and Belle just kept talking about this mysterious judge and some conspiracies to keep them off the top. Apparently it is a big deal, and if you are teaching a Sunday Morning church class that has 5 of the show choir members in it, you should not joke about them not being able to get first place after the Albertville competition.
I am not good with all the drama, but I am loving seeing Anabelle in show choir. She just loves it so much and always singing and smiling and dancing around the house. And it is a really good show, and fun to watch. I have seen it three times now, and may not be able to make the final shows, but I love to hear the snippets around the house.
For the first competition in Montgomery, Belle had to be up at 4:30 to fix her hair and do make-up. And Magan and I laughed (later, not that morning) as she was not anabelle that morning but Devilbelle. Everytime Magan would try to help, it was like a demon voice, I CAN DO IT MYSELF. Oh well, Magan and I will remember and maybe still be laughing at our little early morning demon. But even with the early mornings, she would not want to be doing anything else.
Their show follows some scenes from a 50s diner and theater with a classic boy meets girl and they fall in love story. It opens with "Opening Up (From Waitress)", then a Mashup of "Can't take my Eyes off of You" by the guys with "I wanna hold your hand" by the girls. Followed by "I won't say I'm in Love (From Hercules)" and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love". Then they slow all the choreo down to sing "Can't Help Falling in Love with You". Finally finishing with "You're the One that I want"! I don't know how she keeps up with all the choreography, even has some hand jive in there at the end. Really fun little show that gets better with each performance.
I can't wait to hear her sing more. She has the talent and the voice to be up front as lead, but as we are learning in Bible Class, the ensemble has a huge important role in making the show as well. I guess I will have one more post in February that will cover the Auburn competition and the final show for the parents.
