From Magan's facebook post ""Love you to the Moon and Back" was our AHG theme this year for the Father Daughter Dance. I just love the joy of this night. Ruby and Scott were E.T. and Elliot, Anabelle was Padme in her Picnic Dress with Grandaddy and I was a Star ( the kids loved my glowing cape). I added the inspiration pics for their costumes at the end...."
Magan always does an amazing job with this event and can't help but make it a perfect night for all the dads and daughters. So I will share just some random events that happened to help us remember this one. Some of the new moms seemed to want to stay at this event, one stayed the whole time (weird) and the other that actually had other kids in tow finally got the hint that this was specifically for dads and daughters, hence the theme. Ruby did a great job with the poster this year. Thankfully, Elizabeth Bailey helped out with pictures, even tho she didn't have any kids in the troop this year. Both Sam Dabbs and Jimmy Summers had space suits. Me and Ruby couldn't stop counting while trying to learn our new dance. Granddad let me cut in with Anabelle for a couple of dances. Ruby hid her ice cream underneath her hat so the people wouldn't grab it cleaning up. I did not get to talk with Granddaddy much, as he and anabelle were at a table across the room. We got sliders this year with chicken fingers, even tho we did not pay for the sliders. The table was set up for only one way traffic which slowed the food line down...by about 1/2.
And a few memories I will hold that make me smile...Trying to do the Macarana with my beautiful Belle, I thought I had it each rotation until the next rotation where I would forget again. Slow dance with the girls followed with the Chicken Dance, where we all three circled around in German glee. And sadly, no "million dreams" was played, but I will never forget that little belle spinning around on the dance floor to that one. And lifting both Belle and Ruby up just like in the greatest showman. They are getting older, and now watching Davis get ready to leave home later this year, I look over to my sweet Belle and want to cherish every moment. It was a perfect night. And yes, this felt very weird not being dressed up...but I got to admit, I was very comfortable in a tshirt and red hoodie.
