Our Hamilton theme was brought to you in part by LaFayette. Lafayette was a close friend and ally of Alexander Hamilton, serving as a Major General in the Continental Army alongside him. They became fast friends in 1777 and fought together at the decisive Battle of Yorktown in 1781. Their enduring friendship continued through correspondence after Lafayette returned to France. And Lafayette was also Ruby's favorite in the play. So Davis was King George, Sam was Hamilton, Magan, Lisa, and Noel were the Schyler sisters, and I was George Washington. Strange world we live in where a little white girl wants to dress up at a Frenchman made popular by the performance of black man.
So where was Belle in all this Hamilton craze, she was with Linley and Sarah Beth, as part of Alvin, Simon, Theodore. They were the cutest, but had themselves cracking up (but perhaps no one else) when they decided to sing some Christmas songs about hula hoops for Terry, who does not like skipping thanksgiving going straight to Christmas. Some of the other ladies helped with most of the night, so Magan was a little more free than usual. But when we arrived, I did not think I would ever hear her stop screaming because the wind was blowing everything away as she tried to set up the trunk.
Granny and Granddad brought Wyatt and Ivey to visit, and it was fun to see them for just a bit. The winner of the Golden Pumpkin went to Laini and Christian Decker for the Shrek trunk. They were the best, but the Monsters Inc trunk was the cutest. Grant Dabbs Robot costume was clearly the best costume, and he would scare people just randomly standing right behind you. Me and Dave Holley manned the fishing for balloons activity, which had me blowing up way to many ballons. The food was great, but I don't remember getting anything but a hot dog, and I am almost willing to bet that Magan did not eat. Even when we aren't the coordinators, we end up with a lot of work. Luckily, since Sam and Davis had to return to Tuscaloosa, Andrew Rawls helped me return the 15 tables to the right places at church after this event.
