Zoo

Another fun zoo trip...these probably could have been a part of the April post, but I thought these had their own separate story...I just don't have any to add other than the pictures below.

Rock City

We have been wanting to bring the kids here for a long time, but the swinging bridge is the scene of  probably one of about 5 recurring nightmares that I have...always falling, usually "Cliffhanger" or "The Good Son" scenes of fear wake me up in a sweat.  But here we go, toes and butt clinched tight...

Entrance is a little different, as now you have to pay to get down to the stores.  But the place still has some magic.  Neat little trails that help me remember bringing a sweet young gal here in 1998 (Wow, I did have some pictures of those moments, but that photo album has disappeared...will be sad if we can't find it, as lots of old memories are in there).

Ruby has found a way to convert Genesis 12 into a song that she sung throughout Rock City with a Chorus of "GO TO THE LAND I WILL SHOW YOU".  Davis had fun on the climbing rock near the 7 states lookout.  They had lots of princess stuff out for a special nighttime show, but we were not staying that late.  But at the throne, when I knighted Sam, he took out the king with an eruption of nastiness from his bottom...which was reflected in the picture right before I passed out.

All of us made it through Fat Man's squeeze  with Ruby wondering what all the fuss was about.  And fairyland caverns was a hit with the girls.  So...had some really cool moments we wanted to recreate from the old photo album...did we ever find it...only time will tell.

Nashville Predator Game with Scouts

While the girls were enjoying Carrie Underwood and friends at the Grand Ole Opry, the boys and I joined up with the scouts at the Nashville Predators hockey game.  It was a little different experience...a sport where punching each other is ok as long as everybody is still standing.  I think it could be exciting, but just not really my sport.  We all had a blast though and had all you can eat popcorn, soda, peanuts and tortilla soup...so I also had lots of antacids.

So each time the Predators scored, we got to here Tim McGraw singing that He likes it, He loves it, He wants some more of it.  And a LOUD siren that made Davis cover his ears each time.  After the game, we moved down closer to the ice and watched "The Mighty Ducks" on the big screen.  Perfect movie for this night, and one of my favorites anyway...Altho Part 3 is the best.  Then we got to go into our room where we would be sleeping...just one large room with everyone side to side...it was probably similar to a refugee camp, yet at night, the crew could not figure out how to turn off the lights...so yes, lights on, and let me tell you...the people that snore...they have no problems sleeping with the lights on.

With Very little sleep, Gnash the mascot woke us up in the morning with an airhorn.  Our friend, Bob brown and his family, rode back to the opryland hotel with us, and after hearing about the girls waking to waterfalls, he said "Yeah, we woke up to B.O. and fart".  Great line, and now captured forever in our memories.  Accurate description tho.
