Trick or Treat...on Halloween this time

Halloween was on a Wednesday this year, but the kids still wanted some of the traditional trick or treating, not all this liberal hippy trunk or treats, so Magan took them down to Columbiana where they did the monster walk with games...before finally getting to knock on doors and request candy, and if not presented with candy, we had eggs and a "turd in a bag" ready for tricks.  I don't know who the baby in the parachute was, but magan took the picture, and I liked the picture, so it is now part of our family memories forever...After church, the kids went over to a haunted trail in one of the neighborhoods...Magan said that she and Ruby went in with the scare level turned down low and they were still frightened.  And as always at the end of the day is candy trading...but each one of them as they found it, brought me a butterfinger...cause they know its my favorite.  Sweet kids, I wouldn't trade them for a bag of butterfingers...two bags and maybe I would trade one.  I won't say which one, but Dave knows who it is.  :)

Chelsea Church Trunk or Treat

A candy queen and her sugar daddy, the cutest little dumbo and her mama, a green skittle, and a guy too cool for Halloween but still having fun with a "I have the best costume" t-shirt on.  We had a circus theme trunk that had to be a front runner for the Golden Pumpkin award, but alas that prize went to the Bergherts with their "Welcome to the Jungle" theme.  We were also pulling for the cat lady, since sam had made a lego cat and drawn a cat for her trunk.

Magan does most of the planning for this event, and it was great.  We had more people there than ever, and now have to figure out how to keep doing this as it gets much larger each year.  I usually help MC the event, but Anabelle was not impressed with my attempt at "Greatest Showman" wordplay.  Anyway, kids had fun.  We did catch all the skittles together for a picture.  Anabelle and I were given an actual sugar daddy and sugar babies for candy.  One of our elders was garth with his wife dressed as wayne, that was pretty funny.

BooPalooza

This was our first time to attend the Chelsea Boopalooza, but they roped the scouts into helping set up, then had Davis playing trombone in his first show, so I guess we had to be there...plus it is always fun to play games and get candy.

Service Time with AHG

Ok, I have had a great time with the Boy Scouts, but when it comes to Service hours, these AHG girls flat out destroy those boys.  They are always working on some service project, and the number of service hours earned for their rank awards is ridiculous.  But they are super awesome and love helping out.  So below are pictures for Operation Christmas Child, a plastic bag project for feeding the hungry on Thanksgiving, and a veterans day gift for another event for a future blog.

Operation Christmas Child is a project of Samaritan’s Purse, an international relief organization. Our mission is to provide local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ. We ship these simple gifts outside the United States to children affected by war, poverty, natural disaster, famine, and disease; and to children living on Native American reservations in the U.S.
