Labor Day at Colby's House

Maybe we forgot our cameras...I don't know, but this is all the pics I have after driving up to Colby's.  So we actually left Davis at a gas station bathroom...that happened.  We had some fun games of PIG and HORSE while watching Alabama destroy Duke.  And Colby found out that 3 lbs of pork, 2 lbs of brisket, 2 chickens and other stuff is still not enough for us Junkin pigs.  And after a long day of driving we stopped for supper right across the road from THE DENNYS in cullman.  That was THE DENNYS where a first date between me and Magan happened.  It is where I asked her to the "Enchantment under the sea" dance....The kids did not think much of this...but it holds a special place in our heart.

Boy Scout Court of Honor

Sam was completing his Eagle required merit badge for Communication and had to lead a Court of Honor ceremony.  I was out of town, but watched all the videos magan took, and he did great.  And magan even wrote words for this blog, and did much better than I could have done...

From Magan's facebook post...These guys are pretty good fellas. I don’t get to post their cute little stories as much these days b/c they are growing up on me. They both work hard and have achieved and learned so much through scouts. There was a time when I thought my tiny Sam would never speak in front of a crowd because he was so painfully shy. Tonight my first born is taller than me and lead the ceremony with ease. Davis moved up two ranks in one night and both boys earned lots of badges. I am proud of the young men they are becoming and pray they remember who they are as they enter these years of big change and growth. I am thankful for our troop leaders and family friends who are influencing and teaching them along the way. You are all loved and appreciated

American Heritage Girls Begin Again!

A new year has begun and I KNOW it will be a good one cause our Mom is the new Troop Leader...And the theme of the year is Chrysalis...

"So whoever is in Christ is a new creation: the old things have passed away; behold, new things have come." ~ 2 Corinthians 5:17

This Program Year will feature the theme of “Chrysalis.” According to Merriam-Webster, “chrysalis” is defined as a protecting covering; a sheltered state or stage of being or growth. The chrysalis allows a caterpillar to rest, transform, and emerge as a butterfly.  As a Christian, a life in Christ is our place for protection and growth in our identity as children of God.

Through the transformation that occurs in our lives while resting in the Lord, we can triumphantly burst out of our shells and become the butterfly He has intended us to be!  This year we have an Explorer and a Pathfinder on the journey.
