Georgia Weekend - Braves

So this weekend worked out well for the Junkin crew...it had begun as a Friday that me and the boys were going to the Rocket Center to see an astronaut, and that was the plan from early in the year.  Magan was set up to get her hair cut, and then the Saturday we planned to head over to Georgia for the Davis Family reunion.

Well, when I decided to get online and purchase tickets for the astronaut, they were sold out.  And I was very frustrated with myself...and stewing on that for a couple of days, then thought...why not go over to Atlanta early?  We had some extra marriot points as the ones we were planning to use in Helen GA got cancelled due to the hotel not being ready over there.  So, while Magan was not really happy to move a hair appt, we bought some tickets for the baseball game and headed on a last weekend trip before school was to begin.  We were upgraded to a ball park view at the hotel, which was pretty cool until we got to the ball park, and Davis asked why we didn't stay at the Omni hotel which actually had balconies that looked directly onto the field (Oh well, I was cool dad for almost 45 minutes).

We had an easy walk over to the stadium over the new pedestrian bridge, and the entrance to the new stadium was amazing.  They have done an excellent job with the whole area.  After touring around the field a bit, and Davis buying into the Braves kids club (This was a great deal that included an Acuna Jr Jersey and some braves socks...and $5 worth of coupons for the kids area), we decided to go up to our seats (the team store had about a 30 minute wait to get in).  Our seats were right in the sun, so we found some other seats in the shade and had supper.  Here is where Ruby devoured a super large piece of pizza that we thought she would never eat.  And I did not see any of this...or the feature of Hank Aaron being at the ball field...Why did I miss this?  Because out of all of the food at this new ball field, Magan wanted brisket covered tator tots from the 1st level across the ball field from our 4th level seats...she is like deceptively high maintenance.

Back at our shaded seats, Ruby found a place all by her self in the very top row, and she kept yelling at us that it felt so good...then I joined her and realized that it was like air conditioning up there, so then everyone joined us.  Later we hit the team store where I got a new hat (hey, it is a new stadium), and Sam got a Hank Aaron shirt.  Then Davis played some of the games in the kid area and won ruby some sunglasses.  This is also where Ruby walked right into a pole.  After that we made it back up to our original seats that were now no longer in the sun, and watched till the end of the ball game with a  Coca-Cola treat.  Our seats were in the Cola section, so each of us got a "free" cola, which was good, as it was our sweet treat.

After the game, we got to watch fireworks to Stevie Wonder music...The braves lost, but Acuna Jr hit a home run...and with these kids, it is more for the atmosphere than the game...and I think it was a win for us!
