Oak Mountain Hike

Just a practice hike to prepare for the Walls of Jericho.   We hiked 5 miles with minimal elevation change, but good practice with 25 lbs on your back, and new trekking poles, and dealing with bits of rain here and there.   Next weekend at the Walls we just do about the same...only with a 1700 foot elevation change down then up the next morning.   Good practice, and always fun to be out there with Davis.   He is leading the troop well now.   I did not get to spend the night, as I needed to help with the Daddy Daughter dance preparations, but Davis stayed the night cooking a meal of rice and tuna he had prepped in his backpack.   Grand Canyon elevation change will be 4460 feet, so I will take any prep work I can to make sure these knees hold up.   Walls will be the better test.
