Spring Break - Six Flags

Our focus this year is on trying to figure out Sam's college expenses, so we are trying to limit the big vacations, and use these small trips instead.   Sam and Davis were not able to be with us at our first use of the season pass in December, but were excited to join us on OPENING DAY for the 2023 season at Six Flags.   They both made sure they were wearing their coaster shirts for the day.  Our goal was to be at the park at the 10AM opening, but we ran a little late, showing up at 10:20AM...but even on opening day, we have found the sweet spot is between 10 and 12.   The rides are almost empty at this time, and we immediately broke up after going in, Me and Ruby went towards the smaller rides, and Mom and the others rode the cyclone a couple of times.

Ruby was not ready for the cyclone as she had almost thrown up with that as our first ride the previous time.   But she did ride the mine train with me, and we were the ONLY riders on the whole train.   Haha, I have never been the only one on the ride before.   Then we walked over to ride Monster Plantation and walked directly onto a boat (30 minute wait last time in December), we continued our good luck with the Wonder Woman ride (my favorite, such a cool ride), then over to the cars to drive.   Here, the cars had not opened yet, so we went to the carousel.  There, we experienced the low scale six flags effect where the employees were mopping up something, but did not speak to anyone in the line waiting, and wondering if we were ever going to ride.   Oh well, we jumped out of line (after Ruby showed me the naked babies and people that Magan saw last time on the Carousel sleigh) and walked back to the cars to let Ruby drive.

It was there that the others joined up with us and rode another time with Ruby on the cars.   Then we tried the DC dark ride where you get to shoot the bad guys.   We all rode that together, and of course, it breaks down one car away from us being able to get out of the vehicle.   So all lights come on, and we wait for about 10 minutes before finally being able to exit.   At six flags, you just roll the dice when you get in each line.  Usually pretty fast until they break down.

At this point, we broke up again, with Magan going with Ruby, and me and the others hitting the Scream Machine, then  Blue Hawk, then over to Gotham City.   Dare Devil and Goliath looked like long rides all day, so we avoided them.   But in Gotham City, we navigated through the line that was FULL OF WATER, so we had to walk along the edges to get to the front of the line, and as soon as I saw that the front seat was only 2 deep, we went for it.   That ride is amazing in the front.   After leaving the ride, and all of us not feeling out legs, we decided to try it again, this time riding in the back to ride quicker.   And it was here on this second ride that our $30 Season Pass Drink was missing when we got off the ride.   Oh boy, that meant a trip to Customer Service later in the day for me.   Before meeting up for Lunch, we hit the mindbender.

Lunch was pretty good for six flags, we tried out the Mexican place, and had some really good burritos and nachos.  The turd chicken that Aunt Kalissa tried here is always conversation for a laugh.  This was a nice stop to be all together once more...except for me running back and forth to guest services at the front of the park.   Magan and Ruby took the train over which has a stop right by the Mexican place to join us.

After lunch, we rested our stomachs in the 40 minute Dare Devil line, but it is a pretty cool ride.   Then we made it over to the DC area to try and ride Superman, but what do you know, it was still down and out of service.   But the guy at the front of the line told us it should be up in about 30 minutes.   So while I think the kids wanted to go hit the Goliath line, I convinced them to stay in this line...which was no line but a few random stragglers at the actual ride all hoping it would come back up.   Then people started slowly leaving and and opening came for the next ride.   Then Sam made a great decision when I said "we should try to ride the front one"...he said "I don't trust it, if this thing gets going, we need to be on the first ride out"...and so we sat in the stall for the 4th row...and waited.   Maintenance came, and we cheered, the Maintenance made a lot of horns go off and we cheered, then the doors opened and we were on the ride.   Crazy cool ride system, but that loop is something you don't experience on any other ride.   So worth the wait...then as we were hanging in the air at the end, the ride fails again....haha...glad we got on this one, but how long would we sit here hanging.   Well, It was probably only about 8 or 9 minutes, but that feels really long when your whole body is hanging down held super tight by straps.   Sam was able to get his phone out and get a picture and some video.   We had people in the line yelling at us to see if we needed some snacks or water.   We were laughing, but also in a very uncomfortable position.   Finally, the ride moved and we were able to get off the ride.

Ruby and Mom were off getting Mom's favorite...the funnel cake with ice cream and strawberries.  They also rode the Monster Plantation, and Ruby said those monsters had a "bladder problem" squiring water all over in one scene.  And they sent me pictures of Ruby in line for "The Joker" kid coaster , and finally making it on the ride after a long wait.  And as the big kids finally decided it was time to get in the horribly long line for Goliath (Six Flags only had ONE car going on opening day...TWO cars is a must on this ride)...I told them I was getting jealous of not getting to see all of Ruby's smiles, so I left the oldest three in time to get over and see Ruby (getting more brave) riding the freefall drop ride.

It was a fun day, but getting late.   I told the older ones to meet us at the cyclone for one last ride.   So they got finished with Goliath (about 1 hour wait) and a few more rides with Ruby, and we all met up and rode the Georgia Cyclone together for our last ride.   No puking, just smiles.   I asked everyone what we wanted for dinner, and Sam answered correctly...It just would not feel right if we did not stop at Arby's on the way back.   Another fun, always interesting, day at Six Flags!
