Wow, what a busy month. Seemed busier than others, but maybe the one you just experienced is always the busiest. So what was going on?
First, we had our Davis driving out on his own for the first time. Strange to see him roll off in that truck with no one beside him, but he has been thinking of this day for nearly 16 years...Anabelle had a choir recital at Montevallo, and I can't for the life of me remember where I was for this. I spent 11 nights in Georgia, and 1 night in Tennessee this month, so maybe that was where I was at. Sorry Ms. Belle, it looks like I was really missed. :) Looks like that girl had a great time with the girly night with Mom. And I don't think I captured a picture, but I am pretty sure there was Mexican for a treat after this event...We had a small group meeting at Marilyn Gibson's house, and Sam gave an excellent devotion on following God wherever he takes you, even if he is taking you out of state for college. This is also the small group, where I failed to get the over turned on early enough, and we did not get the bring those potatoes Magan worked on for so long. I was trying to delay the small group till magan got to Marilyn's, but when church folk see a pot luck ready, you better pray and get our of the way...Ruby made all As and got to visit Krispey Kreme for free donuts...Sam's math team got third place at the tournament...AHG had a fun meeting at the fire station...Another fun visit with Eloise and CiCi (Seriously, I have no idea how this name should be spelled, Emily, sorry, let me know next time I see ya)...Sam has selected MSU as his future college home. Of course I am excited and scared and nervous for him, but I know he will do well, and can't wait to see what he can do there. Mr. Rick brought him a really nice MSU sweatshirt, and Mrs. Janie got him a new MSU t-shirt...Dad had a visit to Savannah for a week, staying in a hotel, that was also like a geology museum. I got to enjoy dinner on the Georgia Queen going up the river...Our friend Cash was baptized at church. Cash is my mentee right now, and I am super excited for him. A kid that was rarely visiting with us a couple of years ago, but slowly coming out of his shell, connecting with others, and making that perfect connection with God on this day...Rick May is Davis' mentor this year, and they went off hanging out one Sunday, and came back with a fried turkey. I know the boys love hanging out with Rick, but we love the turkey.
This was also the month of the Lamb photo sessions, so I have a few stories Magan shared with me. First of all, the lambs name was Georgey CottonBall Gerald Junkin, as named by Ruby, because he needed two middle names like her. There was one little boy with tears in his eyes because the lamb was so cute. Adam and Tiffany's son (Barrett) had a diaper leak while he was on his dad's shoulders and his pee went down Adam's back and into his underwear. One little guy, who looked like Spanky, saw a bee and was very aware of it. Every time it got close, the was very jumpy and wide eyed.
Sam, Davis, and Cason win coding competition. Sam has been working on the coding for most of the year, but no one else has been participating. So he got Davis and Cason (another friend from scouts) to join him (It did not take much, it was a day off school). And they measured perfectly, and actually got a perfect score in this competition. Of course I was not home to hear it, but Magan said Sam and Davis were laughing about a great day together, and funny moments from some of the Junior High teams that were also there. One teacher that made fun of one of the younger teams when she thought she was by herself, then turned to see that Sam and his team were standing there. "You did not hear anything" she said...And another bout of laughter.
And perhaps a weird story that I tell because it was funny, but also because it shows us in a weird different age of life, with older kids. I was in the kitchen, and going to the refridge, when I thought I felt a tug on my "junk". I immediately jumped as there was kids in the kitchen, and that is not tolerated in this house. But as I turned toward Magan, I realized there had just been a weird placement of an oven mitt (I am not going to explain this further). Probably the situation was over, but in my startle I yelled out "Woah, I thought you grabbed me". Which embarrassingly led to Davis saying "Woah mom, no, there are kids in here" and both Sam and Belle cracking up at our red faces. Magan quickly rolled her eyes, and said hush it, then I guess trying to change the subject, started a song with "But tomorrow, tomorrow..." not realizing this would set them off again. All three of them starting yelling "NO MOM, STOP". I don't know whose face was redder, ours or the kids, but they loved our embarrassment, and know we have it forever for embarrasement. :)
