Lumiere Cafe - Be Our Guest

Anyone need a break from reality, come on down to Lumeire’s Cafe (located on our back porch) and try out the “Griled Dilishous Chese”.

The girls have been busy setting up their cafe and Splash Mountain in our back yard.

We checked out the new park in Chelsea, dad took us on a girly date while the boys worked on Saturday and earned a little money, and Davis and I played a little darts. This weather makes it so hard to want to be indoors!

Sometimes the most special days are also the simplest. Imagination, Imagination...

One little spark, of inspiration is at the heart of all creation. Right at the start of everything thats new. One little spark lights up for you.

We all have sparks, imaginations. That's how our minds create creations. For they can make our wildest dreams come true. Those magic sparks, in me and you. 

Granny turns 60

 So Granny turns 60, and this is her surprise birthday party.  I am thankful that I have a sister that remembers things like this, places significance upon it, and then actually plans an event for it.  And until a mysterious spa text was sent, the surprise was maintained, but I think the whole family was surprised it even made it that far...as you know who was planning it...she can't keep a surprise for too long.  ;)  Katie did a great job with the planning, and helped capture many of these pictures of granny with little me.  Even one picture below with Granny in the swing that I was slowly being created into the perfect son of her womb. 

We did find one below of John wearing one of his Auburn jerseys when he still wore that mullet he had from junior high.  I often tell my kids that my bad jokes I get from my Dad, but my craziness and goofiness are spot on from my Mom.  I remember high pitched noises in the morning then poking to wake us up, I look back upon some fun Easter mornings with a hunt for the baskets, I remember reading over and over our original blog photo albums with funny things to help us remember the trip.  All things carried on with slight twists here and there, but they are all Granny, or as I earlier called her Mom, or as I initially called her Momma.  

The party was excellent, and wonderful day with the family.  I do feel a little bad for calling John out on the sad and sentimental talk about Granny.  Of course it was a great talk, but inner nature is to attempt to make situations lighter.  And tears come alot easier in my old age, so I avoid those situations when possible.  Glad I don't have another sister to get married.  And when my girls get married, I am going to be a wreck.  It is in those moments I will need everyone to make light of the moment, and help me through it.  Aunt Jan and Aunt Carol were able to join us on this day, and while I know Granny was happy, I haven't seen them in so long, so I was happy to have them there too.  

Happy Birthday Granny!  It was great to see your smile...your "surprised" face...and just get to hang out with my goofy fun momma for a Saturday.  

AHG Bonfire

An annual event at the Lewis home, this was a largest turnout.  We had our normal fill of smores, and silly jokes, and a few silly songs.  Unfortunately I don't remember any of the silly jokes that made them smile so much (Wait, Ruby just walked through...What do you call a deer with no eyes?  A no-eye deer).  I really don't remember much of these kids because they were out in the tree, or the yard, playing light saber wars, trying to avoid the massive dogs.  Another fun event for AHG!

 

Scout Court of Honor

Another Court of Honor awards ceremony where Sam stepped up to help lead the ceremony while two of the other leaders were quarantined.  Both boys had earned some additional merit badges, but no big rank moves recently.  The scoutmaster did call special attention to Davis, for being awarded the
"Character in Action" award.  This was a big honor for him, and as Magan stated on Facebook "Yes, I was the weird mom with my phone hanging out the window to take a picture. Voted on by his teachers and they only pick one out of the whole school, proud of my boy"

Every year, each Shelby County school district selects one student from each of its schools to receive a Character in Action Award. These students have been handpicked by teachers, counselors and administrators for displaying respect, courage, responsibility, friendship and kindness toward others. The award also honors the parents and caregivers who have raised these students and who continue to work hard to support their success.  The Character in Action Award program is joint partnership among local school systems, the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office, District Court Judge and the Children’s Policy Council.
