No kids...One week in San Francisco...What??? It all began last summer when our planning showed that there was no way we could go as a family, then Magan said..."What if we just go ourselves?" After that, it was just getting confirmation that Marcia and Granny could share custody during our week of California, and the trip planning began. Magan had taken the kids to Marcias the Friday night before, and I am sure got teared up with that little Ruby hand waving goodbye.
The next morning we flew out to SFO via Chicago...leaving at a bright and early 7:00 AM flight. Magan had not flown in ahwhile and cringed with each bump in the plane. She got the cute little neck pillow in Chicago, and helped provide some sleep during the 4 hour flight into SFO. As you might already know...I have no problems sleeping on the plane. And upon finally arriving in San Francisco, we began our fun metro rail journey up to our hotel. I think the first thing you notice in the metro is a faint urine smell that seems to be a part of much of San Francisco, even tho the sights are worth a few bad smells. Automatic toilet seat covers were a plus, but Magan did not believe me when I said they just go round and round with a little guy behind the wall wiping them off before being sent back to the seat.
After dropping off our stuff at the hotel, we bought some tickets to the Oakland As game and headed over on the metro rail, after a quick supper at a local Mexican place...the Mexican sandwich was unreal good. We traveled thru West Oakland and then Fruitvale station...and knowing the stories of these areas, it was not the best of areas...so we were glad to be rolling thru.
At the game we had upper deck seats, and had some cute families up there with kids that kept chanting "Let's go Oakland", and the whole crowd would cheer with them each time. Oakland had one guy that hit two home runs and a double during the game and they came back to beat the Indians late in the 9th. Great Game, and Ricky Henderson day...so we got free jerseys. Glad Magan let me come.
