Chattanooga Day 2 - Discovery Science Center

We are almost always in a rush or only have a few hours for the Discovery Science Center, but this was the only thing on the agenda for Magan and the kids on this day.  Magan said that Davis kept trying to rush them from place to place, but once she convinced them that they were there till it closed, they all settled down and enjoyed all the many areas of this center.  And apparently they had many craft areas, which seem to be a favorite for all of my guys.  They all had a bag of things they made that they were bursting to show me each and every one after work.  One of the things we all had a laugh about was the "Piggy" that Sam and Ruby made from recyclable stuff.  But I think it was actually a "Doggy", we just didn't see it right the first time.

There was one show the science center put on, and they asked if there was a scout there...Davis hand went up (Yes, Sam is also a scout, but introverts have a hard time raising hands in a crowd of more than 1 people).  So Davis was selected to help start some fires, and that guy has some experience.  He was very excited to help, and the guy leading the experiment was also an eagle scout.

Everyone caught the bus again and met me at "Tupelo Honey" restaurant down near where I was working.  The Sweet Tea Chicken was Deelicious.  But afterwards was the bigger treat...Ben and Jerry's ice cream for dessert.  Sam, knowing his Dad, asked if we could get two waffle cones to share, and I said, "No, you just each get your own".  The kids all know that we have to share a lot, but it was funny and well worth it when the vacation magic comes out and they realize they each get their own...and even with the chocolate dipped cone with sprinkles.

Chattanooga Day 1 - Choo Choo

A friend of mine called and asked if I could come up to TVA and help them out with an assessment...my quick reply was "Can you wait about a week and a half till my kids are out of school"...and so we got a fun end of school year vacation.  Sam and Davis and I had worked in the yard the previous Saturday, and we did not see any poison ivy or oak, but we think we may have found a new friend in poison sumac.  Anyway, you will see from some of the pictures below, that it found about all of Sam.  Even now weeks later, he is still recovering, but on this trip, it was a SEVERE reaction.  He was oozing everywhere.  Gross, poor guy tho, we found some cream tho (Zanfel) that worked wonders and tried it up very quickly.

We now have 4 headphones for the car and it makes it nice to have them watching something in the back, while we can actually listen to what we want up front.  There are a couple of other pictures of Ruby from that first day in our hotel room, she just is too cute and found her own little special places to put on her shoes, and found her own way to wash her hands.  We got to Chattanooga at noon on the first day, and after checking in the hotel, Magan and the kids rode the bus with me, dropping me off at TVA, while they went on to the Chattanooga Choo Choo area.  Lots of fun for them that day, and I met them at Mellow Mushroom for supper.  And their immediate desire was to go swimming after that.  Fun first day in one of our favorite places to visit.
