Two in Tuscaloosa!

Because Magan had a class reunion later on this Friday, we selected the earliest time available to move Davis into his dorm...7:30AM...which put us rolling out of our house around 6.   So it was an early morning, but the boys had pretty much packed the previous night.   Anabelle had a choir function, so their goodbyes were the previous night with her.

From Magan's Facebook Post "It’s been a full week over here.   Today was a great move in day for Davis and a grocery restock and room revamp day for Sam before the new semester begins.  Belle couldn’t join us but the kids all hugged goodbye this morning before school.  It’s never going to be easy to let them spread their wings but leaving those brothers together this time did help ease that pain a little bit.  I love that they have each other so close by. So so proud of them and praying for all these students to have a successful and safe year."

Davis is in John England Hall rooming with his good friend from high school, Rowan Sanders.   John England Jr. Hall offers residents a fully furnished double-occupancy room with a private bathroom that is only shared with their roommate. The hall is located near on-campus dining options like Raising Cane’s, Lakeside Dining, the UA Student Center, and additionally has a convenience store located on the 1st floor. Residents have access to laundry rooms on each floor and a community kitchen on the 1st floor. Students are responsible for providing their own trash receptacles, cookware, eating utensils, toilet paper and cleaning supplies.

Davis room was right across from the Laundry Room, and on the second floor.   He was so excited to hang his Taco Bell art that he and Sam and went dumpster diving to get the previous week following the Chelsea store closing.   Magan now says she will never do another moving day UNLESS it is 7:30AM, as it was minimal traffic, no heat, and we were able to get him set up pretty quickly.

At this point we were all completely starving, so we decided to check out Rama Jama's at the stadium.  The boys had never been here either, and we were all hungry, so everyone got a large combo meal, and we went to eating.   It was a really cool place that you could tell had been around through many years and had many football players that had visited.   After our big meal, we took the traditional elephant pictures in front of the stadium, then dropped Davis off at his dorm.

From there, we went over to visit Sam's apartment and helped him also hang his Taco Bell art.   Noel was not a fan, but I am sure one day it will hang in their living room over the mantel.   Sam read a card that Ruby had written for him 2 years ago when he first moved away.   Those guys are still best friends, and even tho another girl is taking up more and more of his time, he still finds ways to spend some quality time with his little sister.    We waved at Sam and Noel as we drove away, heading to Cullman for the night, now with our kid count in Chelsea down 50%.

Sam and Davis...and Noel sent us first day school pics.   And Davis and his buddies got on the Saban Field with all the other Freshmen to make the giant A script in the stadium.   Super proud of both of these boys, and all of their accomplishments.   They have certainly made it much easier to afford college.   But mainly we are thankful that they are together.   I was never that close with any of my siblings, partly due to age, but also because I struggle getting too close with any people really, but it is amazing to me as a dad to see Sam and Davis become and stay such good friends.
