Our first weekday morning in Charlotte, and nothing planned for early in the morning, so we all slept in a bit...except for Ruby that did not want to miss that buffet. And even tho the Marriot staff told me through the chat that the buffet would be until 10AM, Ruby had a sixth sense that it would be over early because it was a weekday. And she was correct, but all (except for mom) still made it down for breakfast. Ruby was actually already down there when I got to the lobby. They finally had some oatmeal, so we took that up to mom.
The original plan in my head was to go to the Museum of Illusions on this morning, but the tickets were not available until late that evening, so we took the morning to rest for awhile. But I will admit that I got a little restless watching Hallmark movies all morning, so we decided to go out and walk around a park area near our hotel. We saw the fountains (altho no water right now) where the kids had played in 2015, and Davis had snuck away with pockets full of change. Then we found a cool alleyway that reminded us of Diagon alley, where Belle thought she saw Hagrid along one hidden walkway.
After this adventure, we drove to the nearest AMC theater to watch Project Hail Mary. Being a little early, it was like a ghost theater, and we were really the ONLY ones in the parking lot. So we took a detour and had a starbucks lunch before the movie. Back to the theater, we did find a few other people, but not many. But I think all were there for Project Hail Mary. The movie was amazing and mom and the girls loved it. It stayed very true to the book, very clean language, and no preachy message. Just a fun mix of E.T and Armageddon. I will say that there may have been some eyes leaking during certain key parts, but I was happy when they kept what I thought was a perfect book ending.
Afterwards, we went to Firebirds for dinner, and Ruby was very excited to get steak for dinner. I think me and Belle also shared a steak, and Magan got her favorite Salmon salad she loves. I had moved over to company time, so luckily some of the meals were covered. And dessert was amazing there also, but I don't think Magan cares what it is, only that it comes with a scoop of ice cream.
That night we walked a few blocks over to the Museum of Illusions. On the way, the wind was very heavy, and something got in Belle's eyes, so we made it, but the crazy winds were keeping all of our lashes heavily worked. The Illusions place was pretty neat with several fun pictures to shoot. The staff there would help whenever we wanted to get everyone in the photo. And when we had no idea of the right angle to make the illusion look best. Somewhat of a gimmick that I did not know if it was worth it, but seeing that most of the photos we have shared get the most laughs at this set, and that the girls were always laughing thru the place, I think it was worth it. They also had a fun vortex tunnel that spun with different colors as you tried to walk through, and simulated vertigo perfectly. I made it through the tunnel one time thinking I did well, then smacked directly into the wall at the end. We all made fun of mom as she stared and stared at the vase that also looked like two faces, but she could not see it. Only when presented in 2D (picture at very bottom) did she finally see the faces.
Ruby was awesome picking up postcards at all of the places we went, and we would send them with all of the stamps she had brought with us. She got some really cool ones from the illusions museum, even the hotel staff thought they were really cool. We had some late night snacks before calling it a day. And I packed my back pack to begin work the next day.
