I heard the next morning that Ruby had puked the previous night from all the chocolate and milkshake. I apparently slept through everything, and only noticed something different the next morning, when I saw Belle sleeping on the couch in the living area. Belle told us later that she heard Ruby gagging, and told her to go to the bathroom, then she ran to our room where she punched me a few times, then decided to wake up her mom. After all of this fun night, they did all wake up late, and had no breakfast buffet.
This was Magan's favorite day, and she had already found an outlet shop area to visit during the day. They got some "amazing deals" and cheap shirts at Simply Southern. They had a Chinese lunch. I heard that Ruby got some cheese fries, and Belle one of the purple coffees they have right now at Starbucks.
I had a presentation with some friends on this day. Had fun being up there with Robert and Charles, that were with us at the Hornets game. We did a presentation on best practices and lessons learned when incorporating cyber security into Item Equivalencies, Emergent Modifications, and Temporary Modifications...sound exciting?
Then Stacy, who is now President with Cyber Realm Solutions, and one of the primary vendors at the conference, was doing a speech on this day as well about the services they provide. And they had a drawing for an new IPAD on some gift cards. At the end of his speech, he decided to call me up to the front to pick the names. I really don't know why he did this other than we go way back, and I was probably in direct line of view of him. He then talked all about statistics and all having a good shot to win. I reached my hand in and laughed when I drew my own. We threw it out, and found some other winners, but it still looked a little weird as I had picked two other Southern people as winners. Oh well, it was funny for the rest of the conference as many kept asking me if I really picked my name (All thought it was just a bit that Stacy and I were doing).
That evening we went back to the "Diagon Alley" to visit a restaurant that we saw sold the Monte Cristo sandwich, which is not on a lot of menus, but one of Belle's favorites from Disney...and I think from Chedders. It was pretty good, we all tried, but not as good as Disney. And Ruby was cleaning her new shirt with hand sanitizer the whole time. I felt bad, as she was so proud of her new shirt, but almost immediately dropped some food on it. I had a London Broil steak that was actually very tasty.
And then we all put our pinkies up to visit the Mint Museum of Art, as Wednesday nights are free to the public. We started at the top floor, which may have been my favorite, but was just local high school and college paintings. Then we moved to the actual "art" paintings, and I really think they only make it into museums because of the age, not really anything amazing about them. Then the modern paintings which are just weird for the most part. Some of them were easily things that I think Magan and I have in a drawer from the kids kindergarten activities.
But finally, we visited the sculptures and modern random things people placed together on a stand and called it art. I really have no idea what is going on here, and what puts this stuff in a museum. Oh well, it was free, and we felt more cultured by our visit. Ruby of course left with some new postcards, and Belle found a really funny Mona Lisa bookmark. So, while it was free, the store got a lot of our money. But it was a fun last night in Charlotte. The next day we would be leaving for the beach.
