Spring Break Road Trip Day 5 - Ray's Splash Planet and Hornets Basketball

I snuck out early to head to the conference on this day, but heard later that Ruby snuck downstairs to get the buffet before mom and Belle were up.   Well, she did not want to eat down there by herself, so she brought it back up to the room, then realized that she had brought the waffle fork up to the room also.   She told me she had to sneak it back down hoping no one would see her.

The girls day was planned for a visit to Rays Splash Planet, which is like a glorified YMCA area with a waterslide and lazy river.   They may use this for a lifeguard training area, as Magan said they were everywhere watching every move.   Belle said it was so awkward as they were afraid to do anything in the pool, the whistle stopping all forms of enjoyment.   Magan said they just kept laughing as Belle would be singing "Somebody's Watching Me" throughout the day.

They relayed one story of the lazy river that sounded hilarious, as the lifeguards would require everyone with a float to stay on top of it, not just the normal way you stick your head through the middle and float along.   That was when they saw a really heavy guy attempting the top of the float.   Based on the way they laugh telling me this story, I just see all three girls watching this one guy...and he starts shaking and of course flips backwards.    But he made it back on, and of course they were watching him again to see what would happen.   Well, when the speed of the river picked up...they watched and this big man was doing all he could to not flip again, but at the same time having no control of his direction.   He slowly ran into a lady in front of him, his toes combing through her hair.   Ruby said the slide was the favorite thing her.

After arriving back at the hotel, they walked over to a local Shawarma place recommended by the hotel staff.   Magan was of course, way too friendly with the guy there, and he wanted to make sure she tried all these special foods.   And she did not want any wings, but he almost talked her into them.   Magan's personality seems to invite these people, yet she does not have the ability to say no, so it turns into a passive way of not accepting this or that.   Belle can explain this well, and shared her mom's approach, yet Magan then aggressively says this is not what happens.   So Belle and I have a look that we know, and just let it go.   Anyway, Mom ended up with something she really didn't like, but Belle and Ruby got some food that was "amazing".   So good that Belle kept her leftovers in the fridge the rest of the trip in Charlotte till I finally tried it on the last night.    It was very good.

That night we all went to the Charlotte Hornets basketball game, and after a quick tour of the arena, walked up to our seats near the roof.   Once there, and climbing an extremely steep mountain to the top, Magan decided she was not moving anymore.   Me and Ruby went down for one walk around, where I was amazed that the stadium had $2 specials (Hot Dogs, Sodas, Water, and Pretzel Bites).    Ruby found a guy that was making balloon animals and creations, and wanted to wait in line for one.   The game was about to begin, but I could see on her face that this was a special treat, so we stayed and got her a really cool hornet that she could wave for the rest of the game.   This made Ruby happy, since they had no Hornet mascot stuffed animals in the store.   Grabbing some $2 waters, we made our way up to the summit for our seats.

I had sent an invite to the work team, and told them where our seats were, so we were joined by Stacy, Deidra, Joey, Andrew, Gabe, Philnisha, Charles, Trevor, Josh, and Travis from Southern, and my good buddy Robert from TVA.   We had our own nuclear club up there.   I was glad that Magan and the girls got a chance to meet my work family, but it was hard getting to chat alot with the game going on.   It was an exciting game, where the Hornets could not miss a 3 pointer and ended up winning 130 something to 90 something.   LeMelo Ball had an amazing game.   Me and Ruby and Me and Belle had a couple of other fun walk arounds and different points in the game to pick up some Freddy's burgers for dinner.

In the end, everyone had left except for Robert, so he got our family picture at the end.   Robert also explained to Magan about how our friendship began, and the first time I told him about her in song.   He made up a long crazy story that I agreed with when asked, and had us all laughing, and Magan realizing why he is such a good friend of mine.   Robert ended up walking back with us to his hotel, then we all told him bye and walked back to our hotel...until we saw the MilkShake Factory still open.   So, of course we stopped in, and got one raspberry shake for us all to share.   The owners were really nice, and asked for a review, and if we gave one, we could get a free smores marshmallow.   We did the review, and we got the free marshmallow, and maybe then with Ruby's little sweet smile telling them how good everything was, they handed her 2 chocolate covered strawberries to take with us.   A fun ending to a fun day...although the night would later prove exciting with all of the milkshake and chocolate in Ruby's belly...
