Dessert Cabaret

The Dessert Cabaret at Chelsea High School (Alabama) is an annual fundraiser featuring performances by the school's choir program, usually held in early March. It typically combines musical entertainment with a dessert reception, allowing attendees to enjoy student performances in a cabaret-style setting.   This year we were excited to hear Belle sing a duet with Isabella Grace "For Good" from Wicked, a solo "Heart of Stone" from Six, and some songs with the Show Choir and Chamber Choir, of which she is a part.   We had alot of family there to support her, including alot of our church family supporting her, Linley, and Sarah Beth.

Belle was amazing in the first duet with IG, and even had some quick work when she noticed that IG's mic was not working, Belle quickly handed her the mic she used for the first section of the song, and knowing that she did not have to sing for a bit, she walked off stage to grab another mic.   Cool as a cucumber...and they belted out a favorite from Wicked.   It worked well as they are both the best of friends.   I don't know about Belle always wanting to be the Wicked Witch.   :)   I thought both were beautiful up there with the dresses matching the characters they were singing.

Belle seemed so much more comfortable with another year of show choir and theater under her belt.   She moved around the stage during her solo well, and while we thought her big note went well, she knew where she wanted it, and was disappointed she did not get it there.   Always wanting to do a bit better, and her mom and I have probably wore out the facebook tape watching it over and over again.

There were the usual songs and performers that were ... different.   But some big surprises from the Men's Choir, all of them doing very well.   After all those desserts and songs, Belle posed with all the family and friends there.   I am horrible and forgot flowers yet again.   But we did take Belle to Little Donkey for some late supper.   She got tamales and was the only one that did not have fire in their mouth from that meal.   Ruby was almost crying from her enchiladas.   My Chili Rellenos were amazingly good, but spicy spicy.   And Magan grabbed the jalapeno burger...so we will just say there was lots of tears and sweat and runny noses to end this night.
