Christmas at Nanny's

Our first Christmas celebration was at Nanny's were I began my normal holiday napping, and Magan began her normal taking pictures of said napping.  This was rather embarrassing as I fell asleep before the meal, and didn't even notice that everyone had arrived and walked right past me while I was … ok, not napping, sleeping.  It was another wonderful day.  We learned that Marcus and Emily are having a little baby girl on this day with a much better gender reveal gift that Marcus' baby reveal joking.  So excited for those guys.  It was also great to have Noah with us this time.  Judy gave Magan that blanket below because it reminded her of the picture magan had painted her a long time ago...she even gave magan the picture...which teared Magan up, but makes me think, maybe judy just never liked the picture...

Chelsea Christmas Parade!

The Chelsea Christmas parade is an annual fixture in these blogs, and yet it is starting to spread us pretty thin.  But since we were spread thin, we added two cousins to help thicken the Junkin viewing crew.  On this Saturday morning...not raining yet...but threatening...we started the day off going separate ways.  Magan and Ruby went to meet up with the AHG girls for their float.  Then I dropped off Belle for the Baton team, and Davis for the Band.  Me and the rest of the crew settled down near Winn Dixie where we found the Britts from church, and then made to steal their spot. 

 

I don't remember it being this long, but this year, it took forever.  Even got one pic of a car that died on the parade and had to be pushed up the hill.  I did feel bad for the little kid that ran to help then was stepped on because he didn't move fast enough...let that be a lesson children...it is good to help, but if you do, make sure you are strong and fast. 

 

Belle came thru first and would not look at me for the smile, but I guess she was twirling a baton, and yelling Hey Belle, smile was not helping her routine.  She did great, but as she passed by, I had to run pick her up, then run back to our spot for the Chelsea Marching Band...and we had texted Davis that we were on the right side of the road, and he move to that side, but then when we moved left, he did not get that memo.  After Davis went by, I had to run get him, then take his trombone back to our car at Winn Dixie...and would you know when I got back, the parade had almost not moved at all...we still had a long way to the AHG girls. 

 

Magan told me later that the girls were super excited and singing songs around the pretend campfire.  Then the parade never stopped moving.  Then by the time they were actually on the parade route, many people were already packing up.  Then when they got stopped by a train, they ended up throwing all their candy out to the people just sitting there next to them while stopped.  But little Ruby was the cutest in the tent, and she held onto 4 pieces of candy for Sam, Davis, Belle and Dad. 



 

Youth Hike to Peavine Falls

I believe our first Youth activity of the year was cancelled due to some overlapping October events, but we had some perfect weather for a hike down to Peavine Falls.  I had packed us a picnic lunch to eat at the bottom of the falls, and we went right after services on Sunday.  It was a good turnout of 8 for the event, which worked out well as I only had one backpack for the food.  Sam had to be the bearer of the cooler bag, and Savannah was the bread bearer (of course I made overly exaggerations for the importance of these roles, because that is how I roll). 

 

The falls were coming down really well today.  Everyone was impressed and I heard that it reminded them of Mary Poppins as I pulled out juiceboxes, ham, turkey, cheese, Oatmeal Crème Pies, Pringles, and Go-Squeezes out of the backpack.  We even had some tortillas for the ones that didn't want bread.  It was a fun trip...I remember Lauren and Savannah fighting over a stick...Davis fell in the water trying to grab a football...and Robby Watkins has some crazy balancing skills walking across that log...

 

Mom's Birthday

I am pretty sure Mom and the girls went to Superior Grill for her birthday, cause that is her favorite.  As I am typically horrible at birthdays, I did add the streamers in her room to add to the experience, but apparently you are not supposed to tape the streamers to the lamps because when you break thru them, there is a pulling sensation off the table...oh well, it was not broke.  I think all the kids made Magan things to wear...and she got a new echo for the van...so now alexa is always with us...always watching...

 

AHG Christmas Party
