A Speedy Trip to Indianapolis

When we all found out that our next cyber workshop was in Indianapolis, I don't know if anyone really got excited about it.   But it was a new city that I had never been to, and there was an NBA game in town, so I guess it was worth the travel.   I did not have any presentations this week, which made it a little less stressful.   And it was just a quick 3 night trip, so we were off to the races.   There was a plan to get Davis here with me at one point, but his school activities did not work out.

Race cars from the Indy 500 at the airport were immediately shared with Davis.   It was very cold when I arrived, but I still got out and walked around the city a little bit and found a really cool war memorial statue in one of the main squares.   They also had a skywalk connecting most of the city like they have in Minneapolis.

There was some great food in Indy, on the first night me and 4 other friends ate Chicago Style deep dish pizza from a Giordanos.   The next night at the Pacers game, they had the most amazing soft pretzels from a place called Bens (local favorite), and while I did not get to try the famous shrimp cocktail at Elmo's restaurant that was right next to my hotel, I did try it at the airport on my way out.   I found out quickly that the "spicy" in their cocktail sauce was a wasabi level of horseradish that cleared my head, and I think took me into another realm while I passed out for a little bit.

I went to the Pacer game with Trevor and Joey from Plant Vogtle and Hatch, and my good friend Robert from TVA joined us as well.   None of us really cared for the teams, just all having fun with the experience of an NBA game.   Trevor is a big soccer fan, and had never been to a basketball game, and Joey is not a big fan of any sports except golf, and I think this was his first game.   We had tickets at about as far away from the court as possible, but they were only $15/each.   At one point Joey and I walked around the stadium looking for gifts and food, and we found the Ben's pretzels.  I thought I would treat everyone and get 2 pretzels to take back to our seats.   I told Joey and he did not hesitate saying "yeah, and I will get 2 more, so we each have our own".   hahaha, and I think everyone wanted their own, so it worked out well.  And while the first quarter was very sloppy, the remainder of the game was great with some high scoring. Then the end watching the Pacers go into a full court press that actually worked to pull them back to tie the Mavericks then to go up with just seconds remaining...It was very fun...lots of high fives even with the random Pacers fans around us.

And each night in a hotel, every since the boys pulled me into this addiction since our out west trip, I tend to turn on shark tank for just one presentation, then what do the sharks think, then just one more presentation, and what do the sharks think...and then it is midnight, and I don't know why I am so tired the next day.   I am glad I don't have whatever this channel is that plays it around the clock at my house.  So Indy was a pretty fun trip, maybe next time the Fever will be playing, and we can watch Caitlin Clark.   I did not get any pics of the kids, but Ruby got a Boomer (Pacer's Mascot) to go with her collection, I got Belle a bean bag Corn toy with a Corn keychain from Indiana that she will always remember came from her corny dad, Davis got some Pacer socks (and if he leaves them when he goes to college, they will be mine), and Sam got another souvenir cup (haha, sorry sam, but you havent even been home since I made this trip, and I knew you wouldn't care anyway).   And the foam finger went to my boss Deidra for letting us go on this trip....what was it for again?  Oh yeah, there was a cyber workshop there.
