From Magan's Facebook Post: I knew she’d been struggling and questioning. When she leaned in,eyes filled with tears, to tell me, “I don’t want to be afraid anymore.” I knew she was ready to surrender all. In life and in death she will never be alone and has no need to fear anymore. She has joined the Lord’s Army and we can fight the good fight together now and forever. Thank you Jesus for the hope that burns within us and for loving her enough to die for her and save her soul. Hallelujah what a Savior!
So far, our kids all like to surprise us with this decision on that Sunday Morning, but the boys had both given us a heads up before the service. And periodically during the invitation song, the song leader and Terry walk to the middle of the auditorium, and we sing inwards in a circle. For both Davis and Belle, this made an awkward scene where no one had scene him or Belle step forward at the invitation song. We also sit on the 2nd row, which while it reduces the number of steps to take such a giant step of faith, it also apparently is unnoticed till the very end of the song.
Belle and I have had a couple of discussions about being ready for this moment. We have also had some classes that talked about this decision in the Jr/Sr high class. But I was still blown away and almost unable to think when she leaned forward and hugged her momma's neck. Then blown away when she asked if I would baptize her. My sweet sweet Belle, my girly with curlies, it was such an honor to be up there with you in that moment. Your light shines so bright already, and every day you remind me more and more of your mom. So beautiful both outside and in, and I love your kindness and smile you share with those around you. Even when I said "I baptize you...my sister" your little grin at a mention of "sister" just had my heart. Such a wonderful joyful day. I know Sam would have loved to be there, but I hope you remember all those people that came to hug you that day. We have a great church family at Chelsea, and I am so thankful for the role so many of them have had in being a brother, sister, uncle, aunt, mom, dad, grandma, and granddad to these crazy junkin kids.
