Davis is One Year Away from 20!

Davis was not with us on his actual birthday (either 2/17 or 2/19 depending on which side of the bed I wake up), but Mom was able to go down to Tuscaloosa on that day to bring him some gifts and take him out to dinner.   His choice was Olive Garden, and I heard he tried the Tour of Italy, but his main reason was to just get some salad.   Apparently, the all you can eat swipes on campus have not come with alot of salad.      And Magan even got him dessert.   When the server (just another student at Bama trying to get by) asked if Davis wanted him to sing, Davis just laughed and said "No man".

The following weekend, after a series of difficult tests where Davis is struggling to maintain his 98 averages, he was able to come home and visit.   Even then, with a small group and show choir, there was little time to celebrate him.   But we found some time before a dinner party to give him some gifts and an ice cream cake.   Davis opened a gift which he thought was some cheap headphones (dear me, I am so old writing thing, I don't know what the normal name for these little things all wear in their ears are called), but instead it was apple airpods (I think that is the apple name).   He looked at his mom in complete surprise and thankfulness, then turned to me, and I quickly said "No, not me, that was all your mom, assuming they are more expensive, I am glad mom didn't even ask me".

Happy Birthday Davis!   I love watching you get older, having to do some adulting here and there, but also knowing I can stop at Target and you have no issues shopping in toys with me, even tho I know you will stay at the Hot Wheels the whole time.   A big kid with a loving heart.   Hard worker with a mind that seems to understand all subjects.   A big smile and personality that makes the room brighter (I remember days when that was not always the case, and you had to hear the "negativity" dad speech probably way too much).   Remember that even if random church ladies write you about finding a girl and setting down (haha), your Mom and I think you are doing just fine.
