Magan and the kids took Tuesday off down at Dothan to rest and recover from all the sun, but again found the remainder of the weekly forecast full of rain. Then it started looking like Wednesday was going to be a potential Water World day, and they planned to hang out here all day. They also met up with the families of two of my co-workers...the Champlins and the Kakungus, which worked out well because the cabana I rented for them would hold 8 people, so the other moms could come there and rest for a bit too. Always strange to meet new people when you are in a bathing suit, but I think Magan, Janice and Tami enjoyed getting to meet and chat. I wish we could have gotten all of those kids with the waterworld peanut, but from what I heard, all just scattered to have fun in the park.
There were three other slides besides the one pictured below, but the kids said they hurt their backs, so they did not ride them much. And it had one toilet bowl slide, which left you disoriented at the bottom in an 8 foot pool, so the kids mainly stuck to the one pictured which was terrifyingly high, and the wavepool. We joked that Mom would have just talked the people to death at the top of that slide, asking if she would die on this slide. And Mom laughed telling me about Ruby trying her best to stay with Davis and Belle in the wave pool, but she could not touch, and the waves were really big. So in the end, they rented her a float to hang out close to them.
Since 1980, Water World has reigned as "Dothan’s Most Exciting Beach." It put Dothan, Alabama on the map by launching one of the very first rip tide wave pools in the entire United States. For over 45 years, it has served as the ultimate summer oasis for families across the Wiregrass tri-state region. The Junkin Bunch had never been to this attraction before, but I think it was a win. And for Magan, the cabana was win number two as she said there was absolutely no shade. And Davis suggested they skip over Jeremiah's and instead try the coldstone creamery, and thus win number three.
This was our final day in Dothan, where we hit JimNnicks for dinner, and Belle started her cry of "stop feeding us". We enjoyed an evening singing and bible reading with the folks at Honeysuckle Road church, and of course, we were the last ones out.
