Marching Around the House

So first...a few random stories of the last few weeks.

Magan was apparently jamming out to some Nirvana the other day in the van, and had it turned up just a little not thinking that the kids were paying any attention.  I believe it was the song Lithium that was playing and the main chorus started repeating "I killed you, I'm not gonna crack".  After the third repeat, she thought she might need to turn that down, and as she did, she heard Davis say to Sam "Well, that was pretty harsh".

Reading to the kids about the Indians on the prairies with the Little House books,  we have read about how scary they were to the Ingalls family.  Belle was acting scared, and trying to sooth her, Davis said "Don't worry Belle, Indians don't exist anymore".  :)  Taking that story a bit further, I shared that they do "continue to exist", and they are a part of our family.  We explained that Nanny was part indian.  That's when Davis got a big smile and knowing eyes, starting shaking his head yes, then he said "So that's why I am so good at bow and arrows".  :)

Belle told us we needed to "back forward" the DVD the other day trying to get to a previous screen.  And Davis looked in shock as we passed a store that sold hand dipped ice cream..."You mean they use their hands to get the ice cream out".  Funny stuff.

This was the boys first try with the whittling knives from the Easter bunny, and I was super impressed.  I am going to try and let them build on those skills.  Pretty Cool snowmen.  Both carved these in one day out of some small pieces of basswood.

So a questionnaire for cub scouts below...One I liked was the response to what are you going to do when you get older...Sam replied "I am going to LIVE"

Below is a picture of Pissist Belle...Princess Belle.

And these girls were the cutest on this day when Sam, Davis and I were busy laying out new pinestraw.  I heard Belle and Ruby screaming supergirl as they ran to the swings.

Baron's Season Opener

So it was a Tuesday School Night, and I had plans to meet the family at Chick-Fil-A for supper to support a school fundraiser.  Then about the time I was leaving work, I learned I won some tickets to the Barons game...that night...Awesome tickets at the club level again, so I just couldn't pass them up.  We still ate at Chick-Fil-A, missing out on 50cent hot dog night, and Ruby was so excited to meet the cow there...but in what might be a lesson for Disney, she was terrified when they wanted to touch her.

At the game, we started by some races and playing on the small field with the kids.  Opening night, but I guess because it was a Tues school night, there were VERY FEW people here.  I had brought a ball for us to throw around and it lasted about 3 minutes till Dave threw a pitch about 10 feet over everyone's head out of the fence.  Oh well.

Later while Sam, Belle, and Davis were playing in the play area, Ruby got to meet "two puppies".  Again, not wanting to touch them, but super excited to see them.  Magan said when she woke up the next morning, the first thing Ruby said was "I like two puppies".  The Barons were leading 4-3 when we left, always fun at the ballpark.  Late night for the Junkin crew, and you can tell they were sad to not get enough sleep for the tests the next day.  :)

Spring Break Florence Trip

For the last part of our spring break, we took a trip up to Florence to visit with Colby and Melissa.  We did also get a good chance to visit with Magan's aunt Mary Nelice (I don't know if this is spelled right...Maybe it is Marian Elise...just comes out as Mary Nelice).  It was nice to visit with her, and she made a great lunch for us.  But her house had peppermints everywhere, and Ruby felt like she was in candyland...after me scolding her several times, I watched her walk up to one pile of peppermints, then look at them and tell herself "NO NO"...then she picked it up and said "NO NO"...she looked at me, then took off with it.

We stayed at the Marriot and took the kids up to the restaurant that rotates around.  They got a nice view of the area and the nearby lock.

Colby and Melissa then cooked us some awesome burgers for dinner, and we hung out with them that night.  The next day, Melissa and the boys joined Magan in the pool, while me and Colby went and struggled on the golf course (cart path only).  Our supper that night was a Riccatoni's in downtown Florence, and it was wonderful.  And even if people made fun of me for ordering too much, I think we did not have much going home, so that means our bellies were full.  My meal was delicious, and our table up the spiral staircase was nice.  On the second night, Sam, Davis, and Belle spent the night at Colby's.  From the pictures I think these cousins couldn't have had a better time.  Aunt Melissa was supposed to share with me any funny stories for the blog, and she did not, so any gaps in our memories from this night can be blamed on her.  :)
