Universal 2024 - Day 5 (Volcano Bay)

A needed break from the roller coasters, it was nice to sleep in a little bit, and make our walk over to Volcano Bay for the day.   It also opened early for resort guests, so we did not get a lot of extra sleep, but it was nice to just walk over.   There was a special entrance just for the Cabana Bay guests, and once inside with our TapuTapu (device everyone wore to keep lines at a minimum) we quickly pushed past the first set of lockers and on to the next set.   Then found what ended up being a really good seat, mainly because it had an umbrella right above us, and a tree that provided a lot of shade.

So with the TapuTapu you can ride "Right Now" anything that has no wait, so we went onto the AquaCoaster, which I heard would back up quickly, so we rode with only about a 10 minute wait, while by the end of the day, the time was up at over 200 minutes to TapuTapu (tap to ride, and come back in 200 minutes).   Next we rode with Mom the large ride that is just like Hurricane Harbor, and it was a Ride Now at that point in the day, so we rode twice.

Me and the boys then went over to Tap on the Volcano drop slide, which was only a 20 minute tap.   Magan and the girls played in the lazy river while me and the boys rode another tube ride while waiting for the drop slide.   Then up the 209 steps we went to the top of the volcano.   It was a drop, but pretty cool ride.

Once back together, we split up with Mom resting under the umbrella, Davis and Sam hitting the big slides, and me and the girls trying some of the other tube slides.   Later me and the girls TapuTapu on what we thought was a 6 foot drop slide (at the end of the slide you drop 6 foot into the water), but we later found out was a 10 foot drop into the water.   I ended up just flopping into the water, because my shirt held me up a bit.   And wow, dropping 10 foot into a 10 foot pool with a waterfall pushing you down, I am glad the kids a better swimmers than I, I do not like that feel trying to get back to the top.

While waiting for these drop slides tho, me and the girls found the second lazy river at Volcano Bay, and it was no so lazy.   You had to have a life vest just to get in, and the current was moving.   We stayed near the edge, and laughed and smiled as the current pushed us around quickly.   Then we heard screams from behind us, and turned to see a giant wave pushing people forward.   Hahaha...This lazy river had waves.   It was so cool.

After meeting up with the boys in the aforementioned 10 foot droop slide, we all went back over to mom to all have lunch together.  Before lunch tho, me and the boys tapped into the other slide at the top of the volcano, which was at 145 minutes by this time.    They had some really good pizzas and a hot dog on pretzel bun.   All was really good.    Magan joined us as we all played in the fast lazy river.   It was really fun.

At this point, we were pretty much done, but still waiting for our last drop down the big slide, so the boys went back to their own stuff, and Magan and the girls went over to the pool area.   I went back to our seats with the intent to get the camera and take pictures, but once I layed down in the shade, I was out.   The boys came back about the time I was waking up, and my first thought was...Oh no, Magan doesn't have her long sleeves, she is going to be burnt if she did not find shade.   And we walked over to find them all just sitting on the edge of the pool, and RED!   Magan asked if we thought she was getting burned.   "Go put your shirt on right now" I said.   I really don't know what she was thinking.

Me and the boys did ride the slide from the top before we left.   Davis would scream as he went down, and it made everyone at the top laugh.   One boy raised his hands up when he went down.   But our day was over...We saw so many butts on this day.   Not much covering on the Florida bathing suits.   We did not get a lot of pictures, but it was nice that many of them had auto cameras that based on your TapuTapu would catch your picture on the way down.   We probably had many more pictures, but the lady at the picture counter apparently had never used the program before, so I was just happy to get the ones we have below.

Back at the hotel, Ruby and I went over to the other pool area that had a slide, and we played the bucket challenge letting these little buckets fill up then dump on our heads.   This was another dinner at the lobby night.   And honestly it was pretty good food, we had great cuban sandwiches, some good soups, some chicken parmesan, some stir fry, I had some Brazilian steak that was good.   And more time in the room hanging out.   The movies we watched over the week together included The Truman Show, Castaway, and Incredibles.   Magan and I used this night as their wash night for clothes they could have the following week at Disney.   We both sat in the laundry room folding clothes reminiscing about life at Miss State.   The laundry room was just a weekly routine, and we always folded on a little table in the middle before taking the clothes back to our apartment.   This was also the night that we received a retirement from all coasters text from Granddad.   hahaha...I think he did very well, as I think my retirement date will be much sooner.
