Granny Retires

"Goodbye Tension, Hello Pension" the sign read over Granny's head at her retirement party.  I don't know who really planned this event, but I gotta give props to Katie for making it happen for our family, and never letting Granny know anything about this secret.   But I think we all surprised her when all 20 something of family crashed the Listerhill credit union lobby at the same time.  I am sure the Listerhill people may have been a little overwhelmed, especially when they offered to buy us lunch.   Yes, I am sure all of those little ones also needed 3 steak tacos.

Our granny looked beautiful on this day, officially retiring after 26 years with Listerhill.   Made me feel old with my 23 years with Southern Company.   Hard to remember really, as I was in college for a couple of years when she first began work here, I guess it probably lined up with John going into kindergarten.   I remember more of the stories of her and Tammy hanging out and talking about books.  So my connections with Listerhill was probably seeing her at the teller desk, but she moved on to do very well as a loan officer.

And with adventures that included a finger being cut off in the vault, an older gentleman taking a dump in the lobby thru his pant legs, and I am sure numerous laughable stories of people needing money that she will one day write in a book...I am proud of my mom and the career she has had.   Someone gave her a opossum that holds trash bags, which seems to fit with retirement.   I feel like I gave her something because Magan walked in with a present.   There was an amazing cake that went with the taco truck.   I don't know what is next for our granny, but I am happy for her and all the adventures to come.
