Belle Turns One

At the time of this writing, Belle is now 16 months, but I wanted to share some pictures of my baby girl at her first birthday. Blogging has not been a priority in awhile. We had the party and James and Marcias, and everyone had a blast, although I remember it being a very windy day. Sounds like the beginning of a Pooh story. Anyway here are some pictures of the party. Take a look at the cake, Magan did great, but this was right after a Thanksgiving get together so no one was very hungry.

Around the House

Just thought these pics from around the house were funny.

Sam decided he wanted to be an alien
Me and the boys made us a friend. His name is Fred.
Anabelle got trapped!
This is fairly common after hard days at school. Sam just passes out wherever he may be.

Early Mornings with the Boys…and Captain America

I know I have blogged about this before, but it is somewhat of a joy (for me, probably not Magan) to have two little boys up with me before I leave to work in the mornings. Almost without fail each morning while I am taking my shower (around 5:40am) I hear the door open and Davis start asking me about why I have not fixed his milk and his “bar” (nutrigrain bar). Sam is usually up with him since neither of them can wake up without waking up the other one. But I love fixing them some breakfast and getting some big hugs before I leave.

Aunt Melissa has given Davis a gift that has transformed him into Captain America. This costume which was a little late for Halloween has been his outfit for the last few days. He just has to wear it. He also does not answer to Davis while in costume…he IS Captain America.

Space and Rocket Center with Uncle Marc

We have been trying to make it up to Huntsville to visit Uncle Marc for awhile, but things just kept coming up. But we were attending Ben’s birthday party in Decatur one Saturday evening, so decided it was a good time to visit him in the morning.

Marcus lives basically across 565 from the Space and Rocket Center and has a nice two bedroom townhome. It looked like the typical bachelor pad, stocked with a bicycle in the living room, a drum set and electric guitar in the guest room, and enough flat screen tvs for a family of 5.

It was good getting to visit him and see his place. He then took us to a local meat and two place “Blue Plate”. It was very good. He then agreed to come with us to the Space and Rocket Center even tho he was probably much more interested in the football game that was just coming on.

The Space and Rocket Center is very neat but very expensive (Tip: Just buy a McWane Center membership and admission is free). The main museum walks you through the process of making it to the moon, while you walk directly beneath a Saturn rocket.

I found some pictures of when Sam was smaller and at the rocket center. He still likes this ride even though he has a hard time showing his emotions.
Sam is the short one in both pictures...
Those little boys got big in a hurry...

We told Marc goodbye and hope we can visit him again soon.

FYI...Magan and I have a picture in front of this mural when we were dating, but now you can't get to it because it is part of the special exhibits...Oh well.

Halloween 2010

How great was the weather this year for Halloween? It was great! We had an exciting day that began with a Trunk or Treat with our friends from church. We had a great pot luck meal then began trunk or treating.

Our costumes…Magan was Mary and Belle was her lamb. I was the clock, and Davis was the mouse running up the clock. And Sam was a little brown bear (At the last minute he wanted to be a spy bear like Oso, but we did not have a vest). MaMaw made or helped with pretty much all of the costumes.

Later that evening we went to one of our church friend’s house to trick or treat the neighborhood. We only lost Davis once (when we finally found him, he was at a door trick or treating still), and only lost Sam once (only briefly then found him with the group from church). Anabelle was strapped in which made her more difficult to lose.

And the boys were super excited to show all of the candy they received.

I just added the pictures below because Belle and Davis were dressing up...just not in their halloween costumes. Belle below is wearing her pippi longstocking pigtails while sporting her Davis smile. And Dave is wearing the suit I wore when I was a little'un.

Jelly Monster and Bad Dad

The boys are already thinking of things they want for Christmas. Mostly b/c we keep getting all of the magazines in the mail that are full of toys.
Out of all of the toys, there is one thing that Davis has picked out and keeps asking for, the Jelly Monster. Just in case you don't know what a Jelly Monster is here is a picture for you:

Haha, the Jelly monster and his horse

Two days ago I made tacos that put Scott in the ER. Well, we are not sure that it was the tacos, but I really think it was.
I added Flax Seed to them b/c it is a great source of fiber and good to clean out your system. Everyone else did great with it, but Dad didn't process those seeds so well.
I felt TERRIBLE! I still believe it is a good thing for our systems, but I may have added about 1/2 cup too much to our tacos for Scott's stomach. : )
Anyway, it all happened on a Wed. The kids and I got ready and went on to church while Dad took a bath. (I knew he was feeling really bad when he agreed to take a bath, he thinks he is soaking in his own filth when he takes a bath) : )
After Bible class Sam came out grinning from ear to ear. I asked what is so funny and he opened the card he had made for his sick dad and read "Bad Dad" and busted out laughing. I figure he probably wrote the d backwards at first and then realized it made the word bad and just thought it was hilarious.
BTW, if you didn't remember our little Belle is ALMOST ONE!!!! Still can't believe it!!!

Back to the Zoo

Colby and Melissa came down to visit while I was out of work for a holiday. Katie also joined us and we took everyone to the zoo. I can’t remember everything that happened, but do remember a few things…the Lorikeets pooped all over my arm…the Boo at the Zoo decorations were up and fun to see…and we got to watch the Turtles do it. Here are a few pictures of everyone…and a little video of the turtles.
