Road Trip 2011 - Pittsburgh (Children's Museum)

I was not with Magan on this fun day at the Pittsburgh Children's Museum, I had to finally go to work...ugh. As I mentioned I did get to come to this museum the day before and it had a lot of cool areas. On this day, Magan got them to the museum when it opened at 10am, and they stayed till it closed at 5pm.

The first thing they got to do was make paper. They had a blast and told me all about it, actually there are still two sheets of the paper they made still sitting next to Belles carseat now three weeks later.

They had one really neat room that I don't know if we got any pictures of, but it was the Mr. Rogers neighborhood room. It had the closet, shoes and sweater of Mr. Rogers and you could try them on for a picture. They also had his real shoes in a glass case, along with many of the puppets used on the show. Apparently it was all filmed in Pittsburgh, and they had a great room devoted to a man that seemed to really care about children.

Davis loves the water play area, and Magan told me he got soaked in this place.

Did I mention yet that we were having problems with escalators and elevators on this trip. Again, at this museum, the elevators were not working keeping Magan carrying the stroller up and down stairs...

You need to get Sam to tell you about these parachutes. This was a really cool room where I spent most of my day the day before. The kids would send these parachutes all the way to the ceiling using the gear Sam was spinning. At the top, the parachutes would fly through the air and back down to the floor. Then others would put them all in a basket and Sam could pull them up to where he is standing to send the parachutes flying again.

I could try to explain the other really fun things in this room, but it would not do it justice. Just a fun place for kids to play.

Arrr...There he is...Captain Davis. And speaking of Davis...you may know that he is kinda loud and speaks his mind whenever. Magan told me that he was holding on to her in one of these musuems, and with a crowd of people around told Magan very loudly that "Mom, there's something under you's arm" as he hugged her with his hands under her arms...Magan tried to quiet him as she replied "It's just deoderant"...Then Davis again said loudly "NO MOM, It scratched me" making some of the moms behind Magan start laughing. Needless to say, Magan decided to get a fresh razor that night...

That evening we decided to drive over to Station Square for dinner. This would normally be about a 10 minute drive from our Hotel, but we found out a little band by the name of U2 was playing at Heinz Field this night, and as you might imagine, this caused some traffic delays. After some troubling times from our traveling companion Beverly (TomTom Voice), I finally got us in the right direction, and we ended up a Station Square to eat at Boca. This was my favorite Italian restuarant the last time the family was in Pittsburgh, and there are probably pictures of us there in the old blogs...It was great food again. Interesing scenery throughout the restuarant, can not quite explain what they are going for in their pictures, but great food. We got the Chicken Parmesian and the biggest bowl of fettechine (sp??) noodles I have ever scene. yeah, that mostly went to waste. But the best thing was our appetizer...A 1 pound giant meatball. So Good, Sam and Davis helped me eat it. The girls wanted no part of our big ball of meat.

We ended our day visiting the courtyard behind the Hard Rock Cafe, and watched the city as the trains ran by.
