A Wedding Shower...and a Day "all to myself"

The next generation of weddings is beginning, and is coming up quickly.   Magan and Ruby did a lot of prep for this day for Stephanie, or maybe that is the wrong name, I don't really keep up at this next generation of people.   And of course I did not stay for the shower, so I have no idea what really happened, or if there were any funny stories to share.   I am sure they probably talked about towels and cheese balls and life plans...or other stuff like that.

But I remember this day as one Magan asked me to come along and enjoy a day "all to myself".   She said to reach out to my family to see if they were doing anything on this day, and I did so.   I had plans to drop the girls off and perhaps go watch Wyatt play some basketball.   But this day "all to myself" began with helping to unload our van into the building, then help set up all the tables, then when the backdrop holder was not completely there, to grab some mop and broom handles and make it work.   But after we were finally ready, I thought I had probably missed the basketball game, but had thoughts of shopping my old favorite used book store in Cullman.   But that is when Ruby and Magan asked for some lunch.   So after grabbing lunch, then returning it back to them, my day "all to myself" was about to begin.   That is when Magan said I needed to be back in 2.5 hours to start breaking everything back down.

But I could not have had a better 2.5 hours, as I spent it chatting with Nanny at her house.   I had not visited since her fall, and was happy to sit and catch up with her.   Magan tells the story better of when we first started dating, how I just felt at ease in that back bedroom chatting with her mom.   And perhaps it is a similar laugh and a sly smile, but I can't remember ever having any negative conversations with my mother-in-law.   So it was a good day.   I don't remember any pause in conversation with Judy, but always lots to talk about.   I am glad she is better and recovering well.

Then my day "all to myself" was over, I left Judy with a strawberry and cream cheese pie to go with a burger and headed back to help clean up the shower.   I got to play with some of the cutest nieces in the world, even getting Ceci to cackle a little, altho she is probably also a little scared of this crazy uncle.   Magan began subliminally suggesting Top Hat to Marcia and Emily, and we ended the day eating the best BBQ in the state.   At least all those girls did...I was still full from the Jacks.   A pretty fun day, even if it wasn't really "all to myself".
