Chuck E Cheese Please!

I often think that these Chuck E Cheese posts don't warrant their own post, but then the fun times and memories with all of the kids, and now my little Ruby have always been a treasure.  She was out of school on this day, haha, that began with her getting on the bus and arriving at normal time.   Then I am at home and get a call at 7:15 that she has thrown up, and I need to come pick her up.   Knowing Ruby, this is somewhat normal, so I went to get her with no big worries.   Then when I got to school, I had to sit in the car rider line for a bit just to get into the parking lot.  As it was only 7:30AM and I was checking my kid out for the day.   The office staff also had to ask around as they had no idea how to code Ruby's attendance for the day.   She was fine, and she knew it was just normal, but one of her friends told a teacher, and they have a zero puke policy that sent her home.   It was also a bit of a sad day, because her friend was moving and this was her last day, and Ruby had to miss it.

Anyway, all of that to say that Ruby was just sitting around all day looking a little sad.   Mom and Belle had some activity that night, and Davis had a game night with his friends.   So I "accidentally" left my computer screen turned to the Chuck E Cheese webpage when I saw her walking by...she glanced over at me, then my screen, then I saw the big sweet grin from ear to ear.   Then as my work wrapped up for the day, we left with everyone else on our own adventure.

There were many highlights to this day, and the first was watching Ruby hit 20K on skeeball.   The next was consecutive hits of the 10 ticket spongebob train...I hit it, then she hit it on the very next try...Super hard to do.   We were disappointed that the sketchbook was not working, so we did not get our usual sketch drawn by Chuck E.  I scored 369 yards in one game of the football challenge, which put me as a pro-bowler level.  And then we both got hooked on the coin game...this is usually my addiction, but they had a new avengers coin game, and we both were completely sucked into this addictive game.   First I played until I collected all of the infinity stones and scored some bonus tickets, then she was able to accomplish the same feat.

It was then, coming off the Avenger high, that we stepped up to the Clown Game, where you throw balls to knock over the clowns.   The record is set too high and unreachable by normal dad and daughters, but on this day, Ruby and I were in sync.   Everything she threw hit a clown, everything I threw hit a clown.   And for a minute, time stood still as we worked side by side telepathically signaling to one another our plans.   And at the end of that game, we reached the unreachable, we set a new record of 520 points.   I imagine that Ruby may bring her own children to this machine one day, and look down and show them that 520 still lit up reminding all of this magical day.

We did see Chuck E somewhere during our 1-hour gaming delirium and finished our night in a very painful cheap toy selection process.   Ruby showed me how to use both of our coupons, so we currently have a 30 minute play card for next time, and 100 tickets left for that next day.   Or perhaps I might stop by on my way home from work to spend 30 minutes on the Spongebob coin game.   So addictive. Ruby...if you ever read this one day, and your dad is still able to walk, know that I am always ready for another Daddy Ruby day at Chuck E Cheese.   Love you Ruby Gooby!
