Around The House

So some pictures from around the house over the last couple of months...and a few stories...

- So we are now owners of the Amazon Echo.  Perhaps a blog on its own to this fun little toy later.  Now just telling about all the kids using it, and even little Ru walking over to where the Echo sits in our kitchen and calling for "Alexa"

- In discussion with Sam the other day, I overhead Davis describing to him the process doctors sometimes must use to get tubes down peoples throats to assist them in breathing.  I think when he said esophagus, I broke in and asked "Where are you getting this from?"  He quickly replied "Oh, I watched it on Popular Mechanics for Kids" on my kindle.  Wow, technology.

- Also, Davis grabbing my USA today the other day excited about reading the articles on space travel.  Just funny stuff to me. 

 

 

Tooth Fairy money!  She lost two teeth now. 

And MawMaw made up some song about a monkey climbing up in a tree singing and dancing with me...I don't know, but It was the sweetest thing seeing Ruby dance and clap and try to sing along. 

Shower for Eehlee Ckaye

I was not at this shower, but assume there was lots of talks of babies, flowers, clothes, and probably random discussions about who has the best chicken salad.  I assume various selfies were taken, and probably not a few facebook posts were made.  Perhaps discussions of favorite cooking items and recipes surrounded the room like the fragrance of a mother's chocolate chip cookies fresh out of the oven.  But the main focus was the sweet little princess we are looking forward to meet in May.  Sorry nephews...nieces are just too cute...plus made of sugar and spice and everything nice.  

 

Montgomery Marathon

I was running the Montgomery Half Marathon, and staying at the downtown marriot, the starting line was one block from the hotel.  This was super nice.  Finishing the Half in 2 hours and 3 minutes, I again could not break my goal of 2 hours.  But it was so great to round the corner and look in the Biscuits ball park towards third base and see my whole crew at the finish cheering me on. 

 

Magan told me later about her marathon of getting 4 kids up @ 7:30 am, dressed and ready, then down to the hotel buffet, fed, and out to the finish line by 8:30 am.   And I told her that she wins.  Much more effort on her part.  Especially with a broken plate (Anabelle), An open pack of Honey all over dress (Ruby), and two boys that like to pick on each other.  Oh, and she also had all of the clothes packed and ready to go...haha...pretty amazing. 

 

So after the race was over @ 9:03, we ran back to the hotel, I showered, grabbed bags and were in car heading up to Cullman for Shay's shower by 9:58.  What a day!

 

 

Montgomery Zoo

Wow, we have a lot of pictures in this blog.  We love the zoo, and that is probably my fault, I love going to see the animals, love seeing the kids smiles, and love hearing Ruby make all the animal noises for each new one we see.  The Montgomery zoo is laid out really well, with many good viewing areas, and the best is the skylift taking you high above the animals.  

 

We bought some parakeet food, and each of the kids got to hold a bird.  At one time Ruby got two and did not like that much so she started shaking them both off. 

Mom loves the white tiger, so she just had to get this picture with it in the background.  It was actually posing for the picture. 

We have no idea what happened to our Ruby that wouldn't get close to any animal.  We couldn't keep here away from these animals.  She loved petting the "baby" goats. 

Belle was very excited to see the peacock showing its feathers, and Ruby and Sam chased one peacock all around the lunch area. 

And Belle lost her first tooth her at the Montgomery Zoo.  She pulled it herself with big eyes in shock as she starting feeling this new gap, then noticing the little bit of blood.  :)

 

And after the zoo, we went to our downtown hotel, visited the Marathon Expo, Ate at Wintzell's, then the kids had a great time on the rooftop heated pool.
