Slipping and Sliding

If I am reading the trophy below correctly, this was the 8th annual Slip and Slide day at John's house, and it is always amazing!   And really keeps getting better every year.   This year, the slide was wider with a double pool at the end to stop you from sliding directly into the house.   I have never seen a pizza party with this much chicken on the pizzas though, so that was strange, but tasty.   It was almost cancelled due to weather at one point, but it ended up being the perfect day.   And starting next year, will be a ticketed event only.   This is the Savannah Banana of backyard slip and slide days.   People from all over the world want to come to this event.   We actually found out from Noel this year that she really never liked Sam very much, but knew that he was her ticket into this event...so she now has a lifetime pass.

It began with the free for all slide time as it always does...and then transitioned into the gaming zone.   John had a series of games and targets with frisbees flying, pickleballs being hit with tennis rackets, rings thrown at impossible targets, and the prized trophy that was awarded this year to Sam, taking the bragging rights from Uncle Mark.   In looking at the scoreboard, Sam clearly dominated the game which includes a bit of skill and a lot of luck rolling into the right target areas.

From Magan's Facebook post:  "John and Shay have created the best summer tradition for our family.  This year marked our 8th Annual Junkin Slip N Slide day!  We have a new individual challenge winner for 2026, Mark passed his 2025 victory reign over to, Sam! It is a day full of laughter and craziness which fits our family pretty well. I just love watching everyone and taking too many pics and videos because it all passes by too quickly.

I like to name a few awards based on how the day went each year. Little Laney climbed that hill so much she said her knees hurt after supper, she was the first one on and the last one off, she gets most oblivious to exhaustion slider, Bella won fastest slider, she beat literally everyone who raced her, Sam got the funniest slide with his donut roll, the girls got the longest train on one slide award, Ruby and Ellie won best buddy sliders(they rarely slid down without each other), Anabelle and Noel win most slides with babies on board your floats, Katie wins most likely to roll out and Ben, Luke, and Wyatt win for most creative and dangerous sliders"

I found a perfect book for Colby entitled "How to be Married to Melissa", in which I hope he can learn a few things.   I loved my few slides with Bella and Laney, and loved getting to see the girls rooms here.   Bella has an amazing collection of adorables, if you didn't know.   And while Ruby and Ellie tried to make plans for another sleep over, it worked out later the next week when they came to our house.   But me and Ruby were still a little sad, we didn't think about it earlier, or she could have stayed with Ellie on this day.   Another fun day, thanks to John and Shay!
